The day begins with a visit to the renowned city of Pisa, offering plenty of time to admire and photograph the famous Leaning Tower. Situated in the beautiful Piazza dei Miracoli, visitors can also appreciate other architectural wonders like the Baptistery and the grand Cathedral. The Tower began leaning during its 12th-century construction due to the soft ground, which couldn’t support its weight. Its tilt worsened until the 14th century when construction finished. From 1993 to 2001, stabilization efforts reduced its tilt to a safer 3.97 degrees, ensuring this global treasure is preserved for future generations. On the way to Pisa, travelers will pass the Apuan Alps, known for their stunning marble quarries, where the finest Carrara marble—used by artists like Michelangelo—is sourced.
• Piazzale Michelangelo - Following Pisa, the journey continues to Florence. The next stop is Piazzale Michelangelo, offering the best panoramic view of Florence. This square, dedicated to the Renaissance sculptor Michelangelo, features bronze replicas of some of his famous marble works found elsewhere in Florence, including the David and the four allegories from the Medici Chapel of San Lorenzo. After taking in the breathtaking views and exploring the square, the tour proceeds into the heart of Florence.
• Florence - After enjoying the stunning view from Piazzale Michelangelo, the tour moves into Florence’s historic center. The driver will guide visitors to the city’s most iconic sights before allowing three hours of free time to explore the birthplace of the Renaissance.
