If you want your visit to Belize to be about more than sunscreen and alcohol, make time for Mr. Julio and Mayan culture! - As our guide, Kendrick brought contagious energy and enthusiasm. Mr Noel was the consummate driver. Sean quietly provided additional insights. Narcisso led us through the cacao growing and harvesting process. Mr. Julio's knowledge of cacao and of Mayan culture left me wishing that I could spend days, not hours with him. No wonder that British royals William and Kate were introduced to Mr. Julio during their visit too. Olivia made us feel more like family members than guests in her kitchen, encouraging and directing us in the preparation of a delicious meal cooked over a fire. A wonderful and memorable day that brought alive some of Mayan culture and led to a far greater understanding and appreciation of chocolate.
