• Xunantunich - Xunantunich features six prominent plazas and over twenty-five temples and palaces. “El Castillo” (the Castle), the tallest structure, stands 130 feet above the plaza. It boasts carved friezes on its east and west sides, with the eastern frieze preserved and covered by a fiberglass replica of the central mask depicting the sun god.

Begin the journey from Placencia, traveling along the scenic Hummingbird Highway, characterized by karst limestone formations and orange groves. Head west at Belmopan towards Guatemala and Xunantunich. Cross the Mopan River via ferry to access the temple. On the return trip, enjoy a refreshing swim at Blue Hole National Park. It is recommended to wear a long-sleeved shirt, long pants, and a hat, and to bring a swimsuit. Don’t forget a camera, binoculars, insect repellent, and sunscreen.
