Journey to Pokhara (823m/2,700ft): 7 hours
Pokhara - Travel from Kathmandu to Pokhara (820m) by Tourist Bus, taking approximately 7 hours. Pokhara is situated about 200 km west of Kathmandu, and the journey offers scenic views along the Trishuli River. In the evening, enjoy a brief sightseeing tour around lakeside Pokhara. (Alternatively, a flight to Pokhara is available for an additional $100 per person.)
Trek to Ghandruk 4-5 hours (1940m/6360ft)
Ghandruk - After an early breakfast, drive to Siwai (2.5 hours) to begin the trek. From Siwai, trek to Ghandruk, a charming village predominantly inhabited by the Gurung community. If time allows, visit the Gurung museum today.
Ghandruk to Chhomrong (2170m/7120ft): 5-6 hours
Chhomrong - Begin with an hour-long ascent to Kimrungdanda, enjoying stunning views of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Fishtail Mountain (Machhapuchhre), and Ganggapurna. A steep descent leads to KimrongKhola, followed by a steep climb to ChereDanda. After a brief descent, enjoy a gentle walk to Chhomrong, a picturesque village nestled at the base of the Annapurna massif.
Chhomrong to Bamboo (2310m/7578ft): 4 - 5 hours
Chhomrong - Depart Chhomrong by descending 2500 stone steps and crossing the Chhomrong Khola via a suspension bridge. Climb uphill to Sinuwa, then pass through a beautiful forest to Kuldihar, followed by an easy downhill walk to Bamboo.
Bamboo to Deurali (3230m/10,595ft): 4 - 5 hours
Deurali - Day 05: Trek through the damp and cool bamboo forest, ascending steadily with fewer steep sections. After reaching Himalaya Hotel, the forest opens up, offering sunny views of the glacial river below. A steep climb through a drier forest leads to Hinku Cave. From here, the trail descends closer to the river before ascending again to Deurali, the most scenic part of the day. Sparse vegetation allows for magical views of the valley, river, and sheer rock face cliffs with wispy waterfalls.
Deurali to Annapurna Base Camp (4,130m/13,545ft) via Machhapuchhre Base Camp (3700m/12135ft): 5- 6 hours
Annapurna Region - Gently climb through a riverbed, then over a steep trail to the mountainside. The hike from Bagar to Machhapuchhre Base Camp is somewhat challenging. From Machhapuchhre Base Camp, enjoy excellent views of the majestic Machhapuchhre, along with Mt. Hiunchuli, Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Annapurna III, Gandharvachuli, and Gangapurna, offering a rewarding experience. As the vegetation disappears, the path widens entering the Annapurna sanctuary, providing sensational views of the near-vertical south face of Annapurna. The sanctuary offers a dynamic 360-degree panorama. From the base camp, savor mesmerizing views of Machhapuchhre, Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Hiunchuli, and other peaks.
Annapurna Base Camp to Bamboo: 7 – 8 hours
Chhomrong - Retrace steps from Annapurna Base Camp to Bamboo. Today’s trek is downhill, making it less challenging. The extraordinary landscape provides constant cheer.
Bamboo to Jhinudanda (1760m/5770 ft): 5 - 6 hours
Jhinu Danda - From Bamboo, trek uphill to Kuldighar, followed by a downhill walk to Chhomrong Khola. Climb the stone steps to Chhomrong, then descend to Jhinudanda for an overnight stay. Enjoy hot springs, just a 15-20 minute downhill walk from Jhinudanda, to soothe aching muscles.
Trek to Siwai then drive to Pokhara: 3 hours trek, 3 hour drive
Pokhara - On the way to Siwai from Jhinudanda, enjoy the stunning hill landscape of western Nepal, including wild bee hives under cliffs. Have lunch en route. The trek concludes at Siwai, where a vehicle awaits to transport you to Pokhara.
Drive back to Kathmandu by tourist bus.
Kathmandu - After breakfast, drive back to Kathmandu. Explore shops and purchase souvenirs. Relax and enjoy. (A flight is also available for an additional $100.)
