DRIVE TO NAYAPUL AND TREK TO THIKEDUNGA (1,600 M)
Pokhara - After breakfast, a private car will transport the group to the trekking trailhead at Nayapul. This picturesque drive takes approximately 1.5 hours. From Nayapul, the trek follows the upstream Modi Khola for about 30 minutes before crossing at the confluence of the Modi and Burungdi Rivers. The path then ascends gradually along the Burungdi River to Thikedunga, located at the base of the steep 3,000 steps leading to Ulleri. This 4-hour walk serves as an excellent warm-up for the first day, or participants may choose to climb the 3,000 steps to Ulleri to ease the following day’s trek. Overnight accommodation is at a Tea House Lodge.
TREK TO GHOREPANI (2,800 M / 6 hrs)
Poon Hill Marga - The morning climb up the steep stone steps is manageable, taking about 2 hours. Ulleri, a Magar village predominantly inhabited by Pun Magars, is situated at 2,100 m. From here, trekkers will enjoy their first views of Annapurna South and Mt. Fishtail. The trail from Ulleri ascends gradually into the shade of an alpine forest, interspersed with groups of teahouses catering to trekkers. Ghorepani is a mountain pass below Pun Hill, offering views of the world’s deepest valley (Kaligandaki), nestled between the Dhaulagiri and Annapurna ranges. Overnight accommodation is at a Tea House Lodge.
SHORT HIKE TO PUN HILL | TREK TO TADAPANI (5 HRS)
SHORT WALK TO GHANDRUK (4 hrs / 1,900 M) | Drive back to Pokhara
Pokhara - The trek descends to Ghandruk, a picturesque mountain village set against the backdrop of Annapurna South and Mt. Fishtail. The village is characterized by stone houses with thatched and slate roofs, surrounded by terraced farms. Ghandruk is home to the Gurung people, renowned as ‘Gurkha Soldiers.’ While enjoying lunch, trekkers can admire views of Annapurna South, Huinchuli, and Mt. Fishtail. The trek continues for about 1 hour to reach transportation back to Pokhara. The return journey to Pokhara is by shared jeep or local bus, with drop-off at the hotel in Pokhara.
