Pompeii Archaeological Park - Pompeii is the “Buried City”. Engulfed by the ashes from Mt Vesuvius’s eruption in 79 AD, it was rediscovered in the 1600s. Away from the hustle and bustle, we will walk in the footsteps of its ancient inhabitants: a cunning merchant, a lazy patrician, a powerful matron, a slave, or an undefeated gladiator. You’ll learn about their daily lives, political schemes, and romantic entanglements. I will guide you through the Forum, the town’s political and religious hub, and its surrounding administrative buildings: The Basilica (Palace of Justice), the Temple of Apollo, the Macellum (marketplace), the Temple of Jupiter, and the Granaries. You’ll see plaster casts of victims who perished in the eruption. We’ll enter luxurious private homes to discover grand gardens, vibrant frescoes, and intricate mosaics. We’ll explore bathhouses, ancient taverns, bakeries (Pistrinia), and Thermopolia (wine and food bars). The tour is flexible and at your own pace.

Positano - If chosen, Positano can be combined with a visit to Sorrento or Amalfi. Known as the “Vertical Village,” Positano is built on the slopes of a towering limestone hill shaped like a pyramid. Before arriving, we can stop along the Amalfi drive to capture breathtaking photos of the village from above. Then, we’ll drive downtown to let you wander through its colorful alleys lined with handmade ceramic and sandal workshops, refined art galleries, and boutiques showcasing elegant linen dresses typical of the famous Positano Fashion Style. The beach is nearby, offering a chance to swim. Positano is both charming and wild, providing a pure Mediterranean atmosphere.
-
Amalfi - We recommend exploring Amalfi while visiting Positano or, especially, Ravello. As the main village of the Amalfi Coast, it lends its name to the entire coastal line. In the 9th century, it conquered the whole peninsula and established colonies throughout the Mediterranean. Today, it still retains the vibrancy of a capital. In Amalfi, you can visit the splendid Cathedral dedicated to St. Andrew and stroll through the picturesque alleys of the center. Enjoy lunch at one of the excellent seaside restaurants, or simply savor the local gelato or the exquisite Delizia al Limone (Lemon Delight) pastry.
-
Ravello - If chosen, Ravello is the perfect addition to a visit to Amalfi in terms of distance and travel time. Known as the Pearl of the Amalfi Coast, Ravello is charming and elegant, a refuge for artists like Greta Garbo and an inspiration for painters and musicians like Richard Wagner, who composed the second act of his most important work, “The Parsifal,” here. In Ravello, you can enjoy a leisurely walk to visit Villa Rufolo or Villa Cimbrone, home to the famous Terrace of Infinity and spectacular gardens, or simply relax at one of the cafés in the main square and watch local life unfold.
-
Sorrento - Sorrento is an ideal stop to combine with a visit to Positano. This lovely town is perched atop a stunning cliff overlooking the spectacular Bay of Naples, with the unique silhouette of Mt Vesuvius in the background. In the Old Town, a large pedestrian area is filled with churches and noble palaces intersected by narrow alleys, where you’ll find clothing shops, jewelry stores, handmade sandal workshops, and excellent restaurants for shopping and dining.
-
Parco Nazionale Del Vesuvio - While driving, exploring the ruins of Pompeii, and stopping along the coast, you can’t miss the silhouette of Mt Vesuvius. Its eruption in 79 AD destroyed Pompeii and Herculaneum, and it remains an active volcano. On tour, you’ll have the chance to take spectacular photos of it.

This is the most popular and fascinating tour in Naples area. It’s also the most complicated requiring Knowledge together with Enthusiasm, Punctuality, Flexibility, and Safety.
Our walking tour in the ruins of Pompeii will be fabulous. Far from the crowds, I will lead you through the streets of the City like being on a time machine. We will learn how was every-day-life 2000 years ago.
I will softly drive you along the sublime Amalfi Coast. You could take pictures of spectacular fjords and panoramas. Usually there is pretty time to enjoy two coastal villages plus Pompeii. I suggest to stop at Positano and Sorrento or Amalfi and Ravello or Positano and Amalfi.
I will be punctual, and flexible in the setting of the itinerary that we can establish in advance but we can change it, too, as the day goes by.
This is the ideal day trip for you and your family!
- One day is not enough to explore the whole Amalfi Coast. I normally manage to stop in one or two of the villages. The suggested itineraries are Positano and Sorrento or Amalfi and Ravello, or Amalfi and Positano. Please, feel free to ask where would you like to stop and how long.
- The tour is totally private and customizable. There will be no-one else but your party and our driver-guide
- Please, wear comfy shoes for the visit of Pompeii and do not forget to bring sunblock for the summertime visits
- If a party member does not want to enter the ruins of Pompeii there is the chance to stay and wait in cafes and shops located just in front of the entrance of the Ruins.
