Amazing tour of Pompeii and Herculaneum - Six of us (2 families of 3) went on the tour of Pompeii and Herculaneum. Our tour guide was Marina, and she was amazing! Her knowledge of the ruins was so impressive, and she was so enthusiastic and entertaining. Even our 2 teenagers paid attention!! She also traveled with us on the local train to go from Pompeii to Herculaneum - we didn't realize that this can be a bit of a challenging way to go between the two, but she was very helpful. I highly recommend!

Pompeii & Herculaneum Private Tour - We booked a private tour of Pompeii & Herculaneum with Italo. Ask for him specifically, as his knowledge of history, architecture, religion, and analogies to modern day situations helped bring the tour to life. He was born a short distance away, and his passion of preserving antiquity shows. Thank you Italo!

Outstanding Experience of Pompeii and Herculaneum - Having experienced a very poor tour of Pompeii over 20 years ago, we wanted to see it and Herculaneum on a private tour with an expert this time. And that is truly what we got with Lello, who is also an archaeologist. He knows the ruins as if he lived there and seems to be known by everyone who works at both sites, With 2 hours at each site Lello gave us a tour that would have required 5-6 hours under normal tour group conditions. He is excellent. We recommend him without reservation.

Wonderful way to spend the day! - Wonderful way to spend the day. Lelo was fun, informative, and clearly loves his job. Marco was great to have as a driver for us as well. Could not have asked for a better experience!

Fun and Informative - I’ve been wanting to go to Pompeii and Herculaneum for many years. Our tour with Italo did not disappoint. He is extremely knowledgeable. I highly recommend this tour and hope to return another time.

Great Day of History - Thanks to Tours of Pompeii with Lello and Company for arranging a wonderful tour of Pompeii and Herculaneum. Maria was extremely helpful with all the arrangements. Italo, our guide, designed and executed a perfect tour which met all our desires. He allowed us to see the different circumstances of the two cities, showing us what we could learn from each. Stefano, our driver, expertly conveyed us door to door from our apartment in Rome. Should we need a driver again we would surely ask for him. All in all, a great day.

Spectacular experience! - On our trip to Italy and Greece, this has been by far our favorite portion. Both Pompeii and Herculaneum are fascinating, and our guide, Italo, was superb. He was knowledgeable, personable, and able to adapt so that we could avoid crowded portions, without missing anything important. (You should ask for him by name, if you can!) Sure, the private tour is pricey on the surface, but we thought it was well worth the cost.
It’s a lot of walking, though. We took the train down to Pompeii from Naples, but there was a taxi near the restaurant we ate in after Herculaneum, so we paid and took it back into town. (If we hadn’t stopped for lunch, we probably would have been okay, but once we got off our feet and well fed, well, we just got too relaxed.)

“Must-see” Pompeii - We were extremely fortunate to have Rossana as our guide. She was profoundly knowledgeable, friendly and kind. We decided to spend the full day at Pompeii so that we could fully appreciate many of the details at Pompeii. Pompeii is a “must see” and Rossana was a delight.

Frustrating - I would not recommend this tour. With no explanation in the confirmation we received, but reviews that they provided transportation, I wrote to them the night before the tour to confirm that they were helping us get from one site to another. The tour company wrote back that it was 10 minutes away, but they would not take us from one site to another, and sent two links in Italian that I couldn’t open. After the tour of Pompeii, the tour guide got on his scooter and left, pointing to the main entrance and told said to just take a taxi to Herculeum.
Unfortunately we tried desperately for over 30 minutes to get one but they were all pre booked by other tours. Our tour company must have known that but they left us in the lurch. Finally we found one empty taxi but had to pay 80 euros to have him transport us and the drive was 30 minutes long.
Also. The description of this tour is 4-6 hours, so we booked it hoping for a very comprehensive guide through the ruins. Despite that, the guide repeatedly mentioned two things, that he was expecting a tip, and that he would be leaving us at 2 pm (5 hours after the tour started).
Find a different tour company.
