- Pompeii Archaeological Park - Embark on a 2-hour walking tour of the Pompeii Archaeological site with an official guide! Following the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD, the city was buried under a torrent of lapilli and lava, preserving its artifacts and infrastructure over the centuries.
- Forum - The Civil Forum was the heart of daily life in the city, serving as the center for all major public buildings related to city administration, justice, business management, trade activities like markets, and the main places of citizen worship.
- Tempio di Giove Capitolino - The Temple of Jupiter dominates the north side of the Forum, with Mount Vesuvius rising majestically behind. When the colony was established (80 BC), the temple underwent significant renovation, transforming it into a true Capitolium with three cult statues of Jupiter, Juno, and Minerva, resembling those of the Capitolium in Rome, placed on a high base to be visible to all in the Forum square.
- Macellum - The Macellum features a tuff quadriporticus with a worship hall elevated on the eastern side, aligned with the entrance. Copies of two marble statues, a female and a male armed figure, are found in the niches of the side wall, along with a fragment of a larger statue, likely of an emperor, Titus or Vespasian, indicating this area was dedicated to the imperial cult. To its left is a room for sacred board meetings, and to the right, a large room with a masonry counter, possibly for selling fish.
- Via dell’Abbondanza - Via dell’Abbondanza was the main street (decumanus maximus) of ancient Pompeii, running east/west from the Forum to Porta Sarno. In ancient times, the street was bustling and lively with numerous shops, workshops (“officinae”), cafes, snack-bars, and restaurants offering food and drink.
- Stabian Baths (Terme Stabiane) - The Forum Baths, located behind the Temple of Jupiter, date back to the years following the founding of the veteran colony by General Silla (80 BC). Separate entrances were provided for women’s and men’s quarters. The men’s section includes an apodyterium (dressing room), also used as a tepidarium (for medium temperature baths), frigidarium (for cold baths), and calidarium (for hot baths). Like many buildings in Pompeii, the baths suffered significant damage during the earthquake of 62 AD.
- Villa dei Misteri - Via delle Ville, often called the path to the Villa of the Mysteries, is a picturesque road outside Pompeii’s city walls, leading away from the Porto Ercolano gate. This ancient route is renowned for connecting the urban center to the suburbs, passing through a notable necropolis lined with impressive tombs. Its most famous destination is the Villa of the Mysteries, a suburban estate celebrated for its stunning frescoes depicting Dionysian rites, offering a serene, atmospheric contrast to the bustling city streets.
- Casa del Fauno - The House of the Faun (Italian: Casa del Fauno), constructed during the 2nd century BC, was one of the largest and most impressive private residences in Pompeii, Italy, housing many remarkable pieces of art. It stands as one of the most luxurious aristocratic houses from the Roman Republic, reflecting this period more vividly than most archaeological evidence found even in Rome itself.
- Teatro Grande - The Large Theater of Pompeii was constructed by the Romans on the slope of a hill in the area, utilizing the natural depression of the mountain to create a magnificent auditorium divided into 5 sectors. The stage hosted tragedies from the Greco-Roman traditions.
- Basilica - The Basilica, covering an area of 1,500 square meters, was the most opulent building of the Forum, used for conducting business and administering justice.
