Fascinating nature, an island discovery and a memorable meal - We took the VAN Tour - Furnas | Full Day tour, including Terra Nostra Park, with Hugo, a really fantastic guide. We discovered the manifestations of volcanic activity of Sao Miguel, wandered through the beautiful garden of Terra Niostra, enjoyed the strange experience of the sulphur pool and tasted the famous cozida (warning: it takes a huge appetite to finish this very hearty dish). As we were lucky enough to be the only ones to visit with Hugo, he did not skimp on the information and even showed us Vila Franca do Campo, his hometown. We learned a lot about the Azores and Sao Miguel in particular.

Full day exploration - We booked 2 tours with this company, and were lucky enough to have Filipe as our guide for both. So many highlights: the wonderful views, the food, the steaming fumaroles, and the beautiful Terra Nostra Garden to name a few.
(There are only 4 changing rooms at the Garden, and the line can be quite long. Be sure to wear a dark bathing suit as the minerals in the pool can stain. Also leave time to stroll thru the beautiful garden!)
Filipe made this tour memorable with his humor, knowledge and friendliness. Highly recommend!

Great tour - This was such a great tour. It was the off season in January so it was just the two of us. Our tour guide was super knowledgeable and fun, easy to get a long with. He took a picture of us jumping in mid air at a high point on a hill and overlooking a waterfall and it was such a great picture. The gardens and thermal pool is nice too and the lunch was so good. I wish we got to walk around the lake there a bit. It was a really great day though and we had a lot of fun and also enjoyed the tea plantation. I recommend this tour company!

Just do it.... - This was one of two tours we did with this company. You get to see and experience some amazing things, great views, impressive lakes, dips in thermal pools really good food. What really takes the tour into the brilliant category is the Guide. Knowledgeable, interested, interesting, and helpful are only a few of the superlatives that we would use to describe Rui! We would highly recommend this tour

Best trip (!!) - My girlfriend and I had booked the trip to Furnas via Azores Trilhos da Natureza’s own website. We received both a purchase confirmation email and a follow-up email the day before the trip, confirming the time and place of pickup. It seemed very professional.
We were in total 6 on the Jeep trip, which made the trip very personal. Our guide João Rego was super welcoming and passionately shared his knowledge of the island and the places we visited along the way. He was super skilled in adapting the trip to the different needs of the group and let us enjoy the trip at our own pace.
As the weather is now on the Azores, we started with massive fog, but ended with the most beautiful sunshine. The whole trip was fantastic - viewpoints, the food, the thermal baths etc. We did hold almost 1.5 hours by the thermal baths and the botanical garden - believe me the time flies away in there (!!)
I would recommend this trip on the warmest and at least equally great recommendations should go to João Rego

Fantastic Nature and Amazing Guide - Last week, I spent 4 nights in Fontadella.
Guid Phillip and Samge traveled the entire island of Saint Michel for three days.
First day unrealistic waterways around Sete Cidades and the Escalbadou viewpoints..
Day 2 Fogo Lake and Green Tea Field
The third day of the furnas lake trek and bathing at Terra Nostra Garden Hotel.....
The guide explains that you can experience all four seasons a day due to the poor weather.
Unfortunately I can't do enough lake trekking.
To come back with that excuse...
Without any prior information, he was drawn to the waterway.
The natural environment of the entire island. Forest is forest. The ocean...
Moreover, the food is fresh and delicious.
Really. I want to live a month where my heart is like a pebble.
Finally, I sincerely joined 19 Korean people.

Vehicles can be very uncomfortable - Firstly, the tour itself and the tour guide were very, very good. Would certainly recommend those aspects.
Whilst we knew it was a 4x4 tour, the vehicle used was an early 90s (a rough guess at the age) Land Rover Defender 110. Certainly pre 2000 puma version.
These vehicles feature fold-down sideways bench seating in the rear cargo compartment. So on a tour with six people + driver, two are in the rear of these seats.
For someone who is 192cm tall, this is not a realistic space.
So I was extremely grateful when another guest, a lovely lady from Italy, offered to swap seats with me so I could sit in the front. And then at least see out of the window.
Upshot is, if you're picked up last (and you have no control over this) and your end up in the back - It will be an uncomfortable journey. If you're over 170cm, you can't see out. Kids would probably be fine and think its fun for the first 20 mins.
Ultimately, you don't even need a 4x4 for the Furnas tour. So I'd recommend you book a mini-van tour instead.
