Travel along the southern coastline of the island and make a stop at Vila Franca do Campo, the island’s first capital. Proceed to the enchanting Furnas Valley, a natural amphitheater where the blue sea meets lush green hills along the way. Awaiting visitors is a lagoon surrounded by vibrant gardens and dense forests, evoking a fairy tale setting.

This area is known for its mineral and thermal waters, located near Lagoa das Furnas. Here, next to the fumaroles, the famous “Cozido” stew is cooked underground using the earth’s heat for 6 to 7 hours, and it can be sampled at a local restaurant (not included).

In the parish of Furnas, the stunning landscape, enhanced by fumaroles, envelops visitors in a mysterious and magical atmosphere.

Visitors can also enjoy a thermal bath in iron-rich waters at approximately 39º C (102ºF) at Terra Nostra Botanical Garden (entrance fee not included).
