Program:
The guests are picked up at their accommodation to join a shared transfer (up to 8 guests per van), in direction to the 2nd famous hike in Madeira - 25 Fontes in Rabaçal (beggining).
The hosts provide hike instructions and map explanation, with schedules. You will have 5 hours to do both paths “25 Fontes” and “Risco”, ending at the cafe - Casa do Rabaçal. The pick up and drop of locations are the same (parking lot).

6am to avoid the crowds! - Adrianna gave us a good briefing for our hike. She was really friendly and gave us lots of information about life in Madeira, lots of local info, I learned a lot as well as had a good hike. The 6am start is worth it even just to avoid the crowds and the heat. Flashlight is needed if starting at 6am other than that, it's an easy enough hike, lots of steps. There's a lovely cafe at the end with delicious cakes and Adrianna was not late picking us up.

Great way to do this trail - Fantastic driver who shared a lot of info about the island during the transfers. Communication was crystal clear regarding the trails and drop off/pick up. This was so much less stressful than driving and trying to get parking. Highly recommend for such a popular destination.

I chose to be picked-up... - I chose to be picked-up at 6 A.M. and this is worth strong recommendation. Our driver, Pedro was very helpful. Instructed whole group about the hike. Starting as early is an absolute banger. You start when it is still dark, there are no people beside your small group, and while the sun is coming up, you follow this beautiful trail reaching the final point as the first ones during the day. You can go to two other PRs, what makes the tour even better. I highly recommend the tour, unbelivable experience.

Great trail. Definitely... - Great trail. Definitely is good to go early and have it mainly all to yourself. Any later and the place starts to get packed. Be prepared for the weather. Raincoat and good walking shows with grips. Plenty of time to see everything. A lot of steps and down hill and then uphill. Adriana was excellent. She gave us loads of information and showed us extra beautiful areas on the drive back. Highly recommend.

Return Transfer and Self Guided 25 Fontes Lavada Walk - Transfer to and from - 25 Fontes Self Guided Lavada Walk. Driver on Time. Provided concise information regarding the Levada walk. This is an early morning walk pick up is 6am which I highly recommend - avoid the crowds and heat. Very enjoyable walk easy/moderate depending on your fitness. Easy well signed trail. Having an early start meant we avoided the crowds and was able to enjoy an extremely peaceful walk to the 25 Fontes and enjoy the splendour of the forest has the sun rises.
Tip
- warm and water proof clothing for the early morning start
- bring a touch (or phone torch as we did)
