- Ponte San Giovanni - The journey begins at the Renty Bike headquarters on Via Manzoni 260. After a brief orientation and receiving the latest E-bikes, participants will leave the urban hustle behind. The adventure starts on the Green Path, a peaceful haven along the Tiber River. Here, the ride is gentle, surrounded by the tranquility of nature and the shade of ancient trees, perfect for warming up muscles in complete relaxation.
- Bastia Umbra - The route continues through the valley towards Bastia Umbra, using only secondary roads, neighborhoods, and country paths away from busy routes. This is the authentic Umbria: riding through cultivated fields and vineyards, enjoying the absolute tranquility that allows for appreciation of every detail of the rural landscape.
- Basilica Papale e Sacro Convento di San Francesco d’Assisi - After leaving the Basilica, the tour enters the heart of Assisi, a labyrinth of medieval alleys and pink stones that seem frozen in time. The path leads along Via San Francesco to Piazza del Comune, the city’s vibrant center where the majestic Temple of Minerva stands, a perfectly preserved Roman gem.
The tour will visit the New Church, built on the site of Francis’ father’s house, and the Oratory of San Francesco Piccolino, traditionally believed to be the Saint’s birthplace. The journey continues to the Cathedral of San Rufino, a significant example of Umbrian Romanesque architecture and the baptism site of Francis and Clare. There will be a stop at the Basilica of Santa Chiara, which houses the Crucifix of San Damiano that spoke to the Saint. Every corner of this historic center, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, narrates the story of a man who changed the world, making the tribute for the 800 years since his death a profound and living experience.
- Assisi - Before returning, the tour will slightly descend outside the walls to visit the Sanctuary of San Damiano, one of the most intimate and authentic places of Franciscanism. In this serene and spiritual place, Francis heard the voice of the Crucified One saying: “Go and repair my house.”
Participants will walk in the sixteenth-century cloister and visit the small dormitory where Santa Chiara lived and died. In this garden, despite illness, the Saint composed the famous Canticle of Creatures, the first great work of Italian literature and a testament to his love for creation. On the 800th anniversary of his death, experiencing the atmosphere of St. Damian allows for a deep connection with the message of humility and peace that Francis left to the world. A final rejuvenating stop before heading back to Ponte San Giovanni.
- Renty Bike - The return journey from Assisi to the Renty Bike headquarters promises an unforgettable visual experience. Leaving the city walls behind, participants will initially enjoy a breathtaking view across the Umbrian Valley, with vineyards and olive groves glowing in the sun.
Upon reaching the plain, the perspective shifts, offering one of the region’s most iconic views: riding back towards the majestic Assisi, seemingly carved into the rock and dominated by the imposing Mount Subasio. From this vantage point, the entire expanse of the Sacred Convent and the Rocca Maggiore can be admired, capturing the grandeur of the place just visited within its pristine natural setting. The assisted ride ensures a smooth and pleasant return to Ponte San Giovanni, allowing participants to fill their eyes with beauty and their hearts with serenity before concluding the adventure.
