Adventure Kokoda 10 Day Trip South to North 24.10.25 to 4.11.25 - My trip was an overwhelming experience of the senses and something that I may never experience again, therefore something I will never forget. After a week back home and some rest I can say that I would do this trip again but in reverse order, not what I was thinking at the time though. Jake was excellent as a trip organiser and communicator of the military history and events that occurred 83 years ago and communicated in such as way to make you feel the battle presence, he was always patiently available for support or questions and nothing was any trouble for him. Jake's demonstrated acts of compassion to some locals was admirable and reflective of his values. To listen to Jake and try to relate these to my fathers experiences in New Guinea gave it depth and more meaning. All of the above experiences coupled with our friendly trip colleagues, the untiring porters and support crew who were always there with a smile and a hand or two. Listening to some of their life stories and village life was captivating and a lesson in humility and gratitude for our western upbringing. The happy and contented lives of the local village people especially the children was uplifting. The 6 months training we endured surely helped relieve some of the pressure from the gruelling ups and downs but not completely and at least in some way I could relate to the soldiers enduring suffering 83 years ago though for only a short period of time, this mixed in with some fun times and breaks gave me energy to continue on as well as the food. Without some pain I would not have appreciated the trail and everything it has to offer.

An Australian and an American walk into a rainforest... - A close Australian friend asked if I'd hike the Kokoda Trail with him, something that had been on his bucket list for at least a decade. I said two things: "Sure" and "What's Kokoda?" The Kokoda campaign of WW II isn't taught in American history, and I'm so glad I said yes. The 10 day hike with Adventure Kokoda was outstanding, literally and figuratively every step of the way. From pre-trek communications and logistics, round-trip travel and accomodations, campsites and villages, lovely villagers all along the way. Incredible fresh fruit... pineapples, papayas, coconuts, banansas and avocados. Battle locations and memorials, poems and letters, washing in streams, hot humid mornings and raining afternoons, meals and smokos (morning and afternoon tea), clear nights and bright stars with no light pollution, cards and frisbees. Hiking... up-and-down... up-and-down... rocks, clay, mud, tree roots and leaves. My sure-footed personal carrier keeping me on my feet. Throughout it all, Jake our trek leader and "the boys" always looking after the group. This trek isn't for the faint of heart. It's hard but worth it. If you plan to hike Kokoda, I have two pieces of advice for you: 1) Train and be prepared so you can really enjoy it, and 2) Book with Adventure Kokoda. Their decades of experience and respect for (and from) the PNG community was obvious.

Satisfying and rewarding - I recently walked the Kokoda track with Adventure Kokoda and would like to express my complete satisfaction with the way in which the trek was organised and completed. I would especially like to state my appreciation of the leadership qualities of our team leader Jake Leske. As an older trekker (74 years) he encouraged me through every aspect of the adventure, and was determined that l complete the trek safely and enjoyably under his guidance and assistance. I have had a hugely rewarding and satisfying experience. I will strongly recommend Adventure Kokoda when discussing my trip with interested friends and colleagues.

What started as a "once in a lifetime" trip has turned into planning when I will be back to do it again. - Unbelievably good experience! From the very start at Sydney airport Trek leader Angelo came and found us to say hello, knowing us by name. The expertise, knowledge and track wisdom that both Angelo and Pete had was unbelievable. It absolutely could make or break your trek having a competent leader (or leaders). Both were incredibly welcoming, easy to have a chat to, were always checking in on trekkers both individually and as a group. They were organised, which helped all of us be organised as a collective. They were friendly and were happy to include themselves as part of the group, not just as trek leaders. This added to the overall experience and group cohesion. Of particular note was Pete's passion towards the historical aspects of the trek. The way he spoke during the morning briefings or at each historically significant site highlighted this. He got visibly emotional during these times, which really gave us as trekkers the appreciation of where we were. Words cannot begin to describe how in debt we all are to the amazing local guides. Always professional, always friendly, always helpful. My personal porter Andy was essentially beside me the whole time - saved me countless times! But its all the behind the scenes work we don't see that really makes the trip amazing. We are forever grateful. Continue the amazing work! Certainly are "Masters of their Environment".

Kokoda Track 2025 - Amazing experience and made even better to have shared it with my daughter, we both got so much out of it! Our trip leader Peter was fantastic with his battlesite readings and war history facts, and a highlight was the poems that he would recite. The dawn service at Isurava was amazing, emotional, unforgetable. The hardest part of the trek was the conditions, rain every arvo, being hot and sweaty, lots of mud, plenty of hills, but I'm glad we took the pre trip advive and did some training as this made the physical part much easier. The group was amazing also, great bunch of people. So proud of my daughter, she carried her pack the whole way and we got to share an amazing experience together that was topped off with a moving ANZAC day dawn service at Bomana war cemerty. Very glad we chose Adventure Kokoda, highly reccomend.

Kokoda 2025 - what an experience. - I recently undertook the challenge of walking the Kokoda trail. After much research, I chose to go with Adventure Kokoda and am I glad that I did. From the outset, communications were always clear and precise and they always responded within 24 hours. On arrival in PNG, there operation was conducted with military precision and everything was in place for us to begin the start of our trek. Our guide, Peter Morrison briefed us what was to come and off we took. Peters skills in the environment, his story telling of the history about Kokoda and the battles that were had were second to none and the emotion that he created had to be experienced to be believed. He and his 2IC Angelo looked after us the whole time, and were always reassuring and there for you. (Don’t get me wrong, they didn’t moddle coddle you) but always set us on the right path to succeed. I cannot speak more highly of the experience and would recommend them any day of the week. To the whole team at AK- Well done and keep the story alive. Chris Sykes
