Weather was too bad to see inside the caves but still loved it! - The wind and waves were up high so it was too dangerous to go inside the caves (safety first) but we still took the coastal tour by boat. I’m really glad we did as it was a great trip, the guide Riu was great, really knowledgeable, fun and friendly. We decided to use their linked restaurant for lunch after which was perfect and just what we needed. We are definitely going to do this trip again when we return 👏

Awesome experience - This is a must do if you are here. We had Antonio as our guide. His English was excellent and his jokes were just as good. The views of the caves are stunning, with some of the most beautiful beaches I’ve ever seen. Antonio provided tons of information and history which made it such a great tour. The price is great and the boat is comfortable. Definitely recommend.

I had fun seeing the caves and the dolphins - I took a boat trip from Portimao to Benagil Cave and it was one of the most memorable coastal experiences I have had in Portugal. The journey along the Algarve coastline was breathtaking from start to finish, with dramatic rock formations, hidden beaches, and clear blue ocean water creating incredible scenery throughout the ride. The boat tour started from the Portimao marina, where the staff were friendly and gave a short safety briefing before we departed. As soon as the boat moved away from the harbor, the views became more beautiful, with golden cliffs rising sharply from the sea and small secluded beaches appearing along the coastline. The guide explained interesting facts about the caves, rock formations, and local marine life, which made the trip not only visually stunning but also educational. The ride itself was exciting because the boat moved quickly along the water, occasionally slowing down near the caves so passengers could take photos and fully appreciate the scenery. Approaching Benagil Cave was definitely the highlight of the trip. The cave is famous for its natural dome-shaped roof with a large opening that allows sunlight to shine directly onto the sandy beach inside. When the boat entered the cave, the lighting inside was magical, with sunlight reflecting off the water and illuminating the golden rock walls. It felt almost surreal and was perfect for taking photos and videos. The captain skillfully navigated the boat close to the cave entrance, giving passengers enough time to admire the interior without feeling rushed. The natural beauty of Benagil Cave is truly impressive, and it is easy to see why it is one of the most popular attractions along the Algarve coast. The water inside and outside the cave was very clear, allowing you to see the color variations of the sea as the sunlight changed. The overall experience was comfortable and well organized, and I felt safe throughout the trip. The return journey was just as enjoyable, as we had more chances to admire the coastline from a different perspective. Overall, this boat trip from Portimao to Benagil Cave is highly recommended for anyone visiting the Algarve who wants a mix of adventure, sightseeing, and natural beauty in one short but unforgettable experience.

For the price, adequate - The Benagil caves boat tour was a solid 4 out of 5 experience. The ride itself was short but adequate, giving us a good look at the caves; however, it is rushed as all the boats move quickly through the main attraction. We were on a rigid inflatable boat (RIB) with row seating, which worked fine for the length of the trip.
That said, the experience felt fairly impersonal. Guests are lined up and filed onto the boat, and while life jackets were required, no safety instructions were provided beforehand. Once underway, it was difficult to hear any information from the guide since there was no microphone, and sitting farther back made this even more noticeable.
Overall, the tour felt basic but reasonable for the price, and it does the job if you just want a quick way to see the caves. I wouldn’t have wanted a longer trip in this setup. Next time, I would likely choose to kayak for a more engaging and personal experience.

Disappointing Benagil Cave Tour – Poor Communication & Management - I joined a speedboat tour to Benagil Cave and the experience was disappointing.
We were only informed about two hours before departure that the boat would not stop at the cave, after we had already travelled from Faro to Portimão. At that point, it was too late to change plans, which was very frustrating.
The seating arrangement was also poorly managed. During the trip, a passenger’s long hair kept blowing directly into my face the entire time, making the experience very uncomfortable. No effort was made by staff to address this.
Overall, the tour lacked proper communication and basic customer consideration.
I would not recommend this tour.
