What a great time in Portland! - My husband, 19 year old son, and I had such a great time eating AMAZING seafood while learning more about the culinary history and scene in Portland. Every establishment we visited was generous with their food offerings and food was top notch! Highly recommend this tour and the guide AJ was so fun and knowledgeable! We were so full by the end of the tour we skipped dinner!

Highly recommend for a delicious and informative experience - If I could give more stars, I would. We took the Seafood Lover's food tour with AJ as our guide and I can't say enough good things about it. As a guide, AJ was hilarious and was such a wealth of information. I love a food tour that incorporates some historical information too and this one did just that. We learned so much about Portland's rich maritime history (in addition to the food history)! The food stops were perfectly spaced apart, we began with a crispy, fresh haddock taco from Andy's Old Port Pub, which was absolutely incredible. At this stop we also got to try a local beer and a sample of Moxie - the Maine soda with a very distinctive flavor. Then we ventured to Gilbert's Chowder House for chowder - I had the clam, my husband had the seafood, both were delicious. Next up we had a sample of the freshest oysters we ever could have asked for - shucked by AJ herself near the old Portland wharf and served with a squeeze of fresh lime juice (lime is my new fave oyster topping). She also gave us a couple of great snacks- some rosemary focaccia from Standard Baking Co. and a sample of The Holy Donut's famous potato donuts. Our second to last stop was for a lobster roll and fries at The Mash Tun, a somewhat divey bar with a fantastic beer selection. The lobster roll was just a little heavier on the mayo than I prefer, but it was on a wonderfully buttery roll and the lobster was perfectly cooked, so a little extra mayo wasn't a big deal. The fries it came with were well seasoned, crispy, and delicious! We also sampled another beer at this stop. We ended the tour with a stop at Beal's for ice cream, we could pick the flavor we wanted. Overall I would highly recommend this tour for any seafood lover and if you're lucky enough to get AJ as your guide - you will have a truly fantastic and memorable experience.

Food tour worth the price - Tour guide Ray S made the difference. He was so knowledgeable about the Portland food scene and the local community. His recommendations alone made it worthwhile.

Loved this introduction to Portland ME and their awesome seafood! - We spent one week traveling along the coast of Maine for the first time. We decided to do this Seafood Lovers Walking Tour to get an overview of Portland and because we LOVE Seafood! The weather was perfect! I was a bit concerned about how far we would walk but it was only about 3/4 to 1 mile. We had a haddock taco at the first stop. Never had haddock or a fish taco before but it was delish! Then we went for NE Clam Chowder! It was a bit cool outside so it was a perfect day for Chowder. I can tell you we all agreed it was the best we have ever had. Thanks so much! Then we went to the next stop for a lobster roll. We were already borderline satisfied, until I tried the lobster. Best ever, so melt in your mouth. Ate all the lobster and left the roll! We really enjoyed the root beer also. This was made in house as well. We finished up at a Chocolatier. Everything was perfect and we are so pleased that we decided to take this tour. Next trip we will come back and stay a week in Portland.

Tour the best dishes in Portland! - AJ was a delightful tour guide, and we were treated to delicious local treats — Allagash special beer to kick off the morning, haddock tacos (who knew? How yummy!), the area’s best chowder, as well as a great suggestion from AJ — try the local coffee flavored brandy! Which was great too, especially added to half cream on ice. Visiting the Harbor fish market showed us what all the freshest fish and seafood looked like before it ever gets onto your plate, and AJ shared a lot about the harvesting and life cycle of those lobsters in the tank.
