A Culinary and Cultural Adventure! - Highly recommend! Foodies, history buffs, and anyone looking for an authentic and fun way to explore Portland beyond the usual tourist spots. It's a great activity to do early in your trip to get your bearings and discover some fantastic local flavors. We discovered local eateries that I never would have found on my own. The tour was well-paced, allowing us time to enjoy the food and the atmosphere without feeling rushed. The amount of walking was comfortable and the amount of food we ate exceeded my expectations! Ray was our tour guide, and he was a fantastic storyteller, sharing rich histories of the neighborhood and connecting the food to the area's diverse cultural influences. His passion for the food and the history of Portland, Maine was infectious. If there is one activity to book while visiting, it's this!

A great introduction to the fantastic food in Maine - This was an AMAZING experience. We started at Andy's Old Port Pub and enjoyed a very tasty fish taco with beer. Our next stop was Gilbert's Chowder House. The seafood chowder was the best I've EVER eaten! At Riby Yard, we were served an excellent lobster roll with beer. We were ahead of time, so Marcia took us up to the top of a parking garage to view some of the sites in Portland. She entertained us with the history of Portland, making the city come alive! Our last two stops were for desserts. Dean's Sweets had very good chocolate and Beals Ice Cream Shop was the perfect finish. This is a VERY leisurely tour- 3+ hours long. It's a great introduction to the fantasic food in Maine!

Lots of great food, history and lobster facts - Marcia was the best guide ever. While the tour was pricey by the end I felt like it was a good value. We had craft beers at two locations, fish taco, choice of chowders, full sized lobster roll, hand dipped chocolates and finished off with ice cream. Marcia provided lots of history of the area and the process of trapping lobster. We were a small group of 4 so it made the tour very intimate. Loved it!

Good, not great - We signed up for the Old Port Culinary Tour but our group was combined with the Seafood Lovers Tour when we arrived and only had seafood. We should have been notified of this before arriving at the tour so we could decide if we wanted to do an all seafood tour or not. Also, the tour guide was knowledgeable and lively but talked so much that the tour ran about 45 minutes past the 3 hours. The food was very good (although I didn't care for the smoked seafood - my preference) and the guide talked about potato donuts that are local to Portland but we were taken to a gelato shop. We could have gelato anywhere and would have prefered something unique to the area for dessert. Overall, we enjoyed the tour but felt it was very expensive for what we got (or didn't get as we got a different tour!).
