- Ponte de São João - This railway bridge was inaugurated on June 24, 1992, and was designed by Portuguese engineer Edgar Cardoso. A tower was constructed by the same engineer at the bridge’s height to monitor the project’s progress.
- Ponte D. Maria Pia - Designed by Gustave Eiffel, this is one of the most stunning bridges connecting Porto and Gaia. It was the first railway bridge, opened in 1877, and remained in operation until 1992. It is now completely closed and is a prime example of Eiffel’s work.
- Ponte Infante Dom Henrique - The newest bridge linking Porto and Gaia, this road bridge is named after Infante D. Henrique, a pioneer of Portuguese exploration who was born in Porto. The bridge was named in his honor.
- Ponte de Dom Luís I - The most iconic and renowned bridge in Porto, designed by Belgian engineer Théophile Seyrig, a student of Eiffel who collaborated with him on the D. Maria bridge. Ten years later, he designed the D. Luís I Bridge. Together with Ribeira do Porto and Cais de Gaia, it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It has two levels: the upper level is for the metro and pedestrians, while the lower level is for road traffic and pedestrians. It is famous for the Ribeira boys who jump from the lower level into the river.
- Cais da Ribeira - Ribeira do Porto: The historic district of the city, known for its colorful houses, tunnels, and medieval walls.
- Ponte da Arrábida - A national monument designed by Portuguese engineer Edgar Cardoso. When it was inaugurated in 1963, it was the only bridge in Europe, and possibly the world, with a single arch suspended in concrete. Legend has it that many doubted the bridge could be completed due to the area’s strong winds and high humidity, so the engineer carefully selected a specific date to place the central part of the arch and complete the bridge.
- Reserva Natural Estuário do Douro - The estuary of Cabedelo is an area near the mouth of the Douro River, home to migratory birds and diverse flora.
- Cais De Gaia - Known as the gate of Gaia or Ribeira de Gaia, this area is part of the UNESCO Heritage Site. It is the historic district of Gaia, located directly across from Ribeira do Porto, and is where the Port Wine cellars are situated.
