Great Best of Braga & Guimarães tour! - On the way there, we were stalled about 35 minutes due to an accident, but John quickly adjusted the plan and had us visit Braga first — we didn’t miss a thing. Both Braga and Guimarães were beautiful and full of history. Very informative trip, plus great food suggestions. Highly recommend.

Excellent excursion to Braga and Guimarães with an exceptional guide - We did the excursion to Braga and Guimarães and it was a fantastic experience. Our guide, Castro, made the tour really entertaining, with very interesting explanations and it was very noticeable his knowledge of the history and each place we visited. He was able to combine historical data with curiosities, which made it never heavy. The rider, Tiago, was also excellent. Very friendly, professional and attentive at all times, transmitting security and making the journey very comfortable. Definitely a highly recommended experience.

Fantastic day of learning and fun - Fantastic tour today given by Jose! Picked us up promptly at our hotel in the morning and we set off for Braga, learning about Porto and general information about Portugal along the way. Spent the morning seeing the stops in Braga with a running commentary on history, culture and fun facts for the city. Jose really knows his stuff and he had answers to any question we asked. Because there were only two of us on the tour it felt like we were visiting with an old friend who was showing us the sites. We had a lunch of traditional Portuguese cuisine with Jose, learned a little more about the food and then made our way to Guimarães for the afternoon. We visited the castle and the medieval city and had time to wander and take photos, never feeling rushed. By the end of the day we were laughing like old friends and I think that if we are ever back in Porto we will call him to get a beer with us! Overall a wonderful day of learning and sightseeing. Highly recommend Living Tours and Jose! Thank you - Lynn and Rob Michaelis, Chicago IL

Valuable walk, even with the rain. - The day we chose to visit Braga and Guimarães, it rained a lot, but the tour was not hindered because of the competence of the guide João. As a history professor, he provided us with important information about both cities, enriching our experience. They were also punctual and fulfilled all the promised roadmap.

LOUSY AND DECEPTIVE EXPERIENCE - LOUSY AND DECEPTIVE EXPERIENCE. We booked this tour with great expectations for everything the description promises, but the reality was far from advertised and the experience was deeply disappointing. From the start everything went wrong. We had to wait more than 15 minutes for the driver to arrive, something that becomes even more important when the appointment was before 8 a.m., with low temperatures, bad weather and the threat of rain. To start like this has already set an unprofessional tone. We had booked a tour in Spanish and found a guide, Jonathan, who could not offer the service in that language. It is not a criticism of the português itself, but of the difference between what is contracted and received. The guide himself acknowledged that the guide in Spanish was not available that day. Faced with such a situation, we considered that the minimum would have been to give prior warning so that each user could decide whether he wanted to keep the activity or not. In addition, four English speakers were added to our group, something that surprised us to see that there was another full English bus. The feeling was an improvised fit to fill places in a larger vehicle, which directly affected the fluency, pace and quality of explanations by constantly having to alternate between languages. The biggest problem was the complete lack of content. The explanations were superficial, messy and without historical or cultural depth. Beyond isolated comments and constant jokes, there was no structured or enriching storytelling. However, it seemed that we had hired a humorist with constant jokes, as about the reckless driving of the driver who, far from being just a joke, the worst thing was that it was quite real during the journey, generating added discomfort . Another very negative point was to see that several of the “included” tickets were free or minimal in cost. At the monuments, the guide would leave us at the door and stay outside without explaining anything. We only received phrases like “you have ten minutes for photos” or “free time”. There was no royal guided tour either inside the cathedral, in churches, or in the castle of Guimarães, let alone a guided historical tour of the streets of Braga or Guimarães. It was, in practice, a transfer between points with free breaks, but not a guided cultural experience as sold. Disorganization was evident even inside the bus. Understanding Portuguese, we found it especially uncomfortable to hear conversations in which the driver himself indicated to the guide where he should take the tour, something that conveys little preparation and professionalism. To top it off, at the end of the trip a tip box was made available to users, which left us even more puzzled considering the low quality of the service received. In short, we felt that it was 50 € lost per person and one day wasted from the trip. An activity that promises a complete and enriching guided experience should take much more care of the organization, the language offered, the real quality of the explanations and the respect for what is announced to the client.
