Porto Moniz Natural Swimming Pools - Departing from Funchal through Câmara de Lobos, we head towards Ribeira Brava via the old roads. Our morning begins on the southwestern coast with a refreshing drink stop. We then ascend to the plateau at 1500m, where we find ourselves above the clouds, reminiscent of an airplane journey. Crossing the Paúl da Serra plateau, we continue off-road to Porto Moniz. Here, we pause for lunch and enjoy a swim in the natural volcanic pools. Post-lunch, we drive along the northern coast, where our guides highlight the stunning sea cliffs and lush vegetation, including some of the island’s most impressive waterfalls.

Valley of the Nuns - This half-day tour takes us to Câmara de Lobos, the island’s second-largest municipality with 30,000 residents. As we ascend the mountains, we pass through banana fields, cherry and apple orchards, and the eucalyptus forest of Quinta Grande. Continuing into the mountains and valleys, we traverse the Estreito de Câmara de Lobos vineyards, which account for over 50% of the island’s vineyards, showcasing the terraced cultivation typical of the region. The tour includes a stop at a local spot to sample traditional drinks and cakes. Finally, we visit the Valley of the Nuns from a picturesque viewpoint.
