The town is built on terraces along the hillside or nestled against the rocks. It is crisscrossed by a network of alleys and stairways that cling to the mountain slope, running under arches, or descending steeply and windingly to the sea below. The architecture of the houses is unique, with facades adorned with broad balconies, and several buildings feature domed roofs. Notably, the majolica dome of the church of Santa Maria dell’ Assunta stands out. • Praiano - Upon leaving Positano, the road, where possible, hugs the coast, with its curves revealing an endless series of panoramic views and picturesque sights. In Praiano, the houses are grouped into small villages and cling to the limestone rock.
• Conca dei Marini - This is a renowned holiday resort located near the cape of the same name, historically famous for its shipyards where merchant vessels were constructed. The houses are scattered over the rocky plateau on which the town lies, with walls supporting the artificial terraces planted with orange, lemon, and olive groves.
• Amalfi - The town of Amalfi, which lends its name to the entire coast on which it is situated, is one of the most famous tourist destinations in the Campania region. The town, distinctive in appearance and picturesque in its setting, clings to the rocky outcrops of the Monti Lattari and is tightly nestled into the narrow Valle dei Mulini. Visitors can spend more than an hour here, and it is highly recommended to visit the cathedral of Sant Andrea, the jewel of Amalfi town.
• Ravello - Ravello is one of the towns on the Amalfi Coast. It is a small yet vibrant town, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1996. The town has a unique history: it was founded slightly inland, on a hill, as a safe haven against barbarian invasions. After these invasions, Ravello became a very important town. It has also been a famous destination for artists, writers, and musicians. Ravello is part of the traditional Amalfi Coast tour and should definitely be included in your vacation plans, even if time is limited.
