The John Lennon Wall - Visitors can leave their signature here. Following John Lennon’s 1980 murder, an unknown artist painted a mural of Lennon on the wall. As more people contributed, it became a symbol of free expression in communist Czechoslovakia. Historically used for demonstrations, it centers on John Lennon but also features designs on local and global issues like global warming. The wall has inspired similar walls worldwide, including the Hong Kong Lennon Wall.
The wall is owned by the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, which permitted all graffiti until 2019. After recent renovations, it is now a semi-legal graffiti wall; spray painting is prohibited, and only certain areas are open to the public.
