- Terezin Memorial - The minibus will transport you to Terezín, situated roughly ninety miles north of Prague and just south of Litomerice. The town was originally established in 1780 by Emperor Joseph II of Austria and named in honor of his mother, Empress Maria Theresa.
- Mala Pevnost (Small Fortress) - Terezin was comprised of the Big Fortress and the Small Fortress. The Big Fortress, encircled by ramparts, contained barracks. However, since 1888, Terezin had not functioned as a fortress; it had become a garrison town that remained largely unchanged, almost entirely isolated from the surrounding countryside. The Small Fortress served as a prison for dangerous criminals. Terezin underwent significant changes when the Nazis renamed it Theresienstadt and began sending Jewish transports there in November 1941. Approximately 1300 Jewish men were sent on two transports to Theresienstadt. These individuals formed the Aufbaukommando, later known in the camp as AK1 and AK2. Their task was to convert the garrison town into a camp for Jews. The most significant challenge these workgroups faced was transforming a town that in 1940 housed about 7,000 residents into a concentration camp designed to accommodate approximately 35,000 to 60,000 people.
- Rudolfinum - After exploring Terezín, the minibus will return you to Prague.
