Family tour of Bohemian and Saxon Switzerland - The beauty of this area cannot be over estimated. This tour is a great break from the crowds of the city. Our tour guide did a great job of giving us information about the surrounding area and the towns we drove through. The activity level is at least a medium. So be prepared with layers of clothing and comfortable shoes. The scenery is worth the work.

The hike was challenging... - The hike was challenging but the view at the top was so breathtaking. Our guide watched out for all of us. And he shared interesting information about the country. The bridge was amazing to see. Our guide did an excellent job throughout the tour. Excellent lunch. I trusted him and really liked the guy! Would highly recommend.

Beautiful Locations! - Our tour guide was awesome. Not only did he show us some incredibly beautiful & scenic locations but he explained a lot about his country that he loves. He speaks English very well. ***Please read the description of this tour well. It is a challenging series of hikes to include a lot of uphill & back down.***

Moderate-hard hike - This is a medium - hard hike for most. Uphill equivalent to almost
70 flights of stairs. With that said it was an amazing trip and tour! Loved Andre, our guide.

Views were incredible - Our guide was great, I thought there would be more hiking, but the scenery was absolutely incredible and nice to go to a typical little Czechia restaurant for lunch,

Pretty Area - Nice to get out to the countryside, but a much harder day than is advertised. - I think this trip could have been represented better in the description.
1) First stop: Bastei Bridge in Germany was beautiful. This was my favorite place. There was probably 1/4 of a mile slightly uphill from the parking lot. There were probably 30 or 40 steps down to the sandstone area and about the same amount up. This wasn't difficult if you can handle some steps. We were walking on a path or paved road.
2) Hike to the sandstone arch in the Czech Republic: Our guide kindly dropped us off at the trail head as it would have added almost an additional half mile each way to and from the parking areas. The trail is a gradual incline to start but quickly becomes very rocky and uneven. We asked for hiking poles and the guide wasn't sure he had them (he did), but he didn't have enough for everyone. These were very helpful and necessary for the uneven terrain. He didn't hike with us at all on the trail going up. We were surprised about that. We thought he would catch up with us after he dropped the van off. Another guide from another company was hiking at the same time and she hiked with her customers and was explaining things to them on the way up. She talked to us a little bit and seemed surprised that our guide left us. We were sad that we had not chosen that company. The last quarter of a mile or so was all stone steps (many); some are quite high in height. Our short person in the group didn't make it to the top because of the steps. The sandstone arch and views are pretty but if you have seen the arches in Utah, I would say they were less spectacular than the ones you see there. Our guide left us again going down and there was an incident where dead trees in a burn area crashed down the hillside in between a couple of groups of hikers (maybe 100 feet on either side). Debris and branches were flying everywhere. Our guide would never have known if it had hit anyone in our group.
3) Next stop was a cute family restaurant that is right next to where the trail for the boat begins. The food was fantastic and the owners were friendly and nice. The trail leading down to the river looked very steep and we were told there were 150 steps. The other couple in the group who were in good shape decided they had enough steps for the day as did two in our group. Our three friends who went said the 20 minute boat ride in the gorge maybe wasn't worth it for the effort to get up and down to it. Again, our guide didn't hike with them.
So my recommendations for deciding whether to go on this trip are to make sure you have good shoes. Sturdy tennis shoes will work; but, hiking boots would be better for the longer hike. Make sure you physically capable of doing at least 200 to 300 steps for the day, both up and down on rocky terrain. The steps can be quite high.
The quote from the description, I would say is a bit misleading.
From the company description: "For most people this hike is easy but some people who are not used to walk or exercise it can be more challenging. Take your time. You will make it to the top in the end and the views that are waiting there for you are worth it. Little kids, seniors, they all are hiking to the top every day. You will do it too. Easily."
All of us are used to walking and exercising but we didn't think this was necessarily an easy day.
My recommendation for the guide would be to learn your history of the area a bit better and talk to your customers. He didn't really talk at all to us on the 2-hour drive to the first stop, didn't hike with us at all and didn't seem interested in us as a group. When asked questions he did tell us some stories about the burn area but had we not asked, I don't think we would have heard them.

Not a “modest hiking tour” -
This tour is much harder than advertised. First, if you’re not staying directly in the designated city area, they won’t pick you up—I was just 10 minutes away and still couldn’t get transportation.
Second, the guide isn’t with you the whole time. In my case, the guide went off on a solo hike and just told us, “Climb there and I’ll meet you.”
The river portion is especially tough. Hiking upstream is very challenging, and the actual “tour” part at the river lasted less than 10 minutes before the difficult climb back up began.
I exercise almost every day and consider myself in good shape, but this was far from the “moderate” activity level they described. If you book this, be prepared—it’s much more demanding than advertised.
Other than that the views wore amazing

I could only give this 3... - I could only give this 3 stars because in my opinion this should have been cancelled & rescheduled due to the weather. It’s a shame that we spent a lot of money and didn’t enjoy ourselves because it was so windy rainy & cold. The guide was good and accommodating when we opted to stay inside the restaurant instead of doing a treacherous hike in the rain. I don’t believe this is a tour for the inexperienced hiker like me and my friend and feel the description of the tour should be more clear.
