Arrival and Preparation

The sun was just beginning to rise over the horizon as I made my way to the Poseidon Dive Centre in Protaras. The anticipation of the day ahead filled me with a sense of excitement and calm. As a marine biologist, the ocean has always been my sanctuary, and diving is one of the ways I connect with the underwater world. The communication with Gab, the coordinator at Poseidon, had been seamless, and I felt confident that this experience would be one to remember.

Upon arrival, I was greeted warmly and introduced to my dive master for the day, Jolien. Her enthusiasm was infectious, and I knew immediately that we would make a great team. After completing the necessary paperwork and assembling our gear, we were ready to embark on our first dive of the day. Exploring the Depths

Our first destination was the renowned Green Bay, a site known for its easy entry and exit, making it perfect for divers of all levels. As we descended into the clear blue waters, I was reminded of why I fell in love with diving in the first place. The visibility was incredible, allowing us to see up to 30 meters ahead. The gentle currents made for a relaxing dive, and I found myself completely immersed in the underwater world.

Though Cyprus may not boast the same abundance of marine life as the Red Sea, the thrill of discovery was ever-present. Jolien and I took our time, carefully observing the vibrant fish and hidden creatures that called this place home. It was a reminder that sometimes the most rewarding experiences come from taking the time to truly look and appreciate the beauty around us.

One of the highlights of the day was our visit to the underwater museum. As we explored the exhibits, I couldn’t help but marvel at the creativity and artistry on display. The visibility was so clear that I could see my fiancé and friend snorkeling above us, adding a unique dimension to the experience.

After a day filled with adventure and discovery, we returned to the dive centre, where refreshments awaited us. As we completed our logbooks and reviewed the photos taken during the dives, I felt a deep sense of gratitude for the experience.
