Dream cooking class - One of the highlights of our trip. Not only is the cooking class super informative and fun and fast paced, but the setting is unbelievable. It’s a gorgeous working farm that makes award winning olive oil and delicious Sangiovese, both of which you’ll get to sample during the class. Perfect activity for adults and kids alike.

Fantastic experience - Brilliant experience. Warm and friendly welcome from Alina, she kept us interested and entertained for the whole 3 hours. Interesting learning the process of how the olive oil is produced on top of cooking 3 pasta dishes and a tiramisu. Highly recommend! Robyn and Gail

My best day in Umbria - First, the location of the cooking class was outstanding. The class was conducted at Alina Pinelli’s family villa, FONTANARO ORGANIC OLIVE ESTATE, FARMING AND VILLAS. The farm produces olive oil, and related products, and the setting is stunning. The course was fantastic from beginning to end. Alina was very responsive in all of her communication. I had some personal difficulties scheduling transportation as I was about 45 minutes away, without a vehicle. Alina kindly accommodated my needs by first picking me up at the closest train station, and then driving me back to the villa where I was staying at the conclusion of the clas. The content of the cooking class was excellent. I had never made pasta from scratch before, and Alina was a patient and skilled teacher. We were 8 students, and she provided personal assistance to each of us. When the instruction was done, we experienced a delightful meal, based mainly upon our creations. The pasta and tiramisu were sensational. This was one of my best days in Italy. I feel that I made a new local friend in Alina - such a great experience overall. I highly recommend it.

Traditional Italian Cooking Class - This was a great experience learning how to make traditional Italian dishes. We made multiple types of fresh pasta and the host was a great teacher. It was a mixed group but we all quickly became friends and enjoyed 3-4 courses of what we’d made, paired with their locally made wine, which was very tasty.

It’ll Make You Want to Slap Your Mama! - It began with the spectacular views of the gardens and the surrounding hillsides, and the warm welcome from Otto and Constantine (the dogs), as well as the cat, chickens, and ducks. This was only to be surpassed by the warm hospitality of our hosts, Alina and Chiara. Our introduction to the traditional art of pasta making was educational, authentic, inspirational and good old-fashioned hard work. (Bring your muscles for the kneading.) The resulting feast of multiple pasta dishes was further enhanced by the camaraderie of our fellow cooks as we had harvested our own garden herbs and prepared by hand four different types of pasta. The finale was the “summer tiramisu”, made with fresh fruits instead of coffee, and topped with various color of flowers from the gardens. We gorged on coffee, pastas, wine and tiramisu, and still had molto leftovers to take home. We give this experience a Dieci +!! Ottimo!! No, we’re not travel writers, just food junkies.

Beautiful farm and very fun cooking class! - This entire experience was so lovely—if I could give it more than five stars I would! The Fontanaro estate is beautiful and Alina and her mom were such lovely hosts. We made several types of pastas, a summer tiramisu, drank their excellent wine, had some of her mom’s homemade limoncello, and toured the olive oil mill. The whole day was so much fun. Highly, highly recommend.

Choose this one! - My friend and I loved this experience. We looked at various options for cooking classes and we were so glad we chose this one. The farm is beautiful and the experience goes way beyond cooking to learning about the importance of small organic farms. Alina was very helpful with advising us regarding how to travel by train + taxi from Orvieto and back and even sent us "home" with leftovers of the pasta dishes we created.
