Setting Sail on Sardinia’s Crystal Waters

As a marine biologist with a penchant for adventure, I often find myself drawn to the world’s most stunning aquatic destinations. Sardinia, with its pristine waters and vibrant marine life, had long been on my list. The opportunity to explore the Tavolara Marine Protected Area aboard a catamaran was too enticing to resist.

The day began at Marina di Olbia, where the sleek, modern catamaran awaited. The anticipation was palpable as we set sail, skirting the picturesque Isola di Figarolo. The waters here are a haven for dolphins, and it wasn’t long before we were graced by their playful presence. The sight of these magnificent creatures gliding through the water was a reminder of the ocean’s wonders that I have dedicated my life to studying.

Our hosts, Alejandro and Fabio, were the epitome of Sardinian hospitality. The afternoon was spent exploring the Molara swimming pools, where the water’s incredible turquoise hue seemed almost unreal. Here, the balance between relaxation and adventure was perfectly struck. Whether lounging on the deck or diving into the inviting waters, the experience was both calming and exhilarating.

As the day drew to a close, we sailed back towards Marina di Olbia, the sun setting in a blaze of color over the horizon. Alejandro and Fabio’s warmth and attentiveness made the day feel less like a tour and more like an outing with friends. Their genuine care for their guests was evident, especially when Alejandro went out of his way to ensure our safe return to the hotel.
