Geoff is the Best! Land Rover Safari from Agios Nikolaos - For anyone holidaying in the Agios Nikolaos area, I would really recommend this tour. We happily spent the day bouncing along in the TD5 Land Rover (named Spartacus') along all the narrow, bumpy, off-road tracks that you travel along into the mountains and around the Lasithi plateau, with Geoff, our fantastic guide/driver and six other 'explorers'. This tour enables you to see a small part of the 'real' Crete, away from all the usual 'touristy' areas that you wouldn't be able to access with a 'hire' car. Fantastic scenery and views of the local flora and fauna, yes, but what really made the tour for us was Geoff: His continuous commentary throughout the day relaying all the factual information that as a tourist you want, mixed with his great sense of humour. Throw in a fabulous lunch including local wine and raki: Perfect!! Mark and Linda

100% FUN - 100% recommend this tour! Gary (The Goat Killer) was our guide and he was FAB! Very friendly and knowledgeable. Gary and our group were such fun did not want to be dropped off! Well worth the money. We visited Kritsa and the Selakano Forest. At Katharo we stopped off to sample goats cheese, olives, olive oil, honey and Raki-also the chance to buy. After this we moved onto Havgas Gorge, Goat Valley (no goats were killed on our trip I’m pleased to say :-). We stopped for a 3 course lunch in a Cretan restaurant in middle of no-where. The food was amazing then off to Lassithi Plateau and Krasnoyarsk. Was a full, fun filled day. I would highly recommend this trip and Gary.

Mountain tour in a Jeep with Geoff. - This trip was absolutely amazing, the highlight of our holiday. Our guide Geoff was brilliant. From the UK he has lived in Crete for 20yrs and his knowledge of the history, flora and fauna is profound. We visited an oil producer where he gave a very detailed description of the process from olive grove to bottling. We had stops on the way for photos and then lunch at a beautifully situated taverna. The jeep was enclosed so no danger of hanging off the back or falling out. We took sweaters but didn’t need them as even at our highest point it wasn’t cold at all. A wonderful day, recommended to anyone wanting a peaceful day away from the beach, pool or shops.

Great way to spend a day on your hols - Absolutely top drawer. I’ve been on a few tours and often you’re disappointed by the enforced stop off ‘opportunities to shop’ and included meals. Not this time, great guide, excellent views, wonderful locations and excellent food. Nico the driver/guide was knowledgeable and kind, made the experience all the better. A good day out all in all

A fantastic way to explore Crete’s mountains and learn more about its history - We booked the ‘4x4 mountain tour with taverna lunch’ through TUI and were picked up from our hotel in Agios Nikolaos shortly after 9am by our British driver, Chris. We weren’t entirely sure what to expect but the day certainly surpassed our expectations. From the coffee pit stop in the picturesque village of Kroustas as we drove up the mountains to olive oil and raki sampling in the hills of Katharo – it was a fantastic way to discover Crete’s scenery and more about its history. We were in a Land Rover Defender with three other couples. So, it was a bit of a squeeze but kind of added to the experience as we bounced over the dusty off road tracks. There were lots of opportunities to climb out of the vehicle for photos and for Chris to point out landmarks on the horizon and birds of prey circling overhead. For eight hours of unconventional sightseeing, including a simple but tasty taverna lunch with wine, we thought the tour was also great value for money at £80pp when we booked in June 2025. Would highly recommend if you want to see Crete in a new light.

Great adventure, wonderful views, brilliant experience, highly knowledgeable guides. Throughly recommend this trip - We did the Katharo Route with Jeff. It was awesome. A fantastic way to see the sights of the mountains. The group is small so we all got know each other. Jeff was incredibly knowledgeable about everything from geology to horticulture and ecology and history and culture. All the stops were amazing . We really liked the lunch plenty of food, water, wine and raki -a comfortable sit down meal with the others on the tour. Very well organised.
