Teide Stargazing Experience July25 - Even after booking, was curious how the best part of 8 hours was not going to drag at some point. Don't think I could have been more wrong. As we headed north from Los Cristianos, very quickly we were on a steady uphill climb that just seemed infinite.....but with fabulous anticipation. Every twist and turn of the road brought a more fantastic viewpoint of the coast and shoreline along with the rapidly shrinking multitude of, predominantly ice white, buildings. And as this visual delight was taking place, we were being given the most informative, holistic and humorous narration on all things Tenerife/Canarian, by the very excellent tour guide, Victor. From the formation of the island, to history of inhabitants and ownership, story of agricultural past and present,to island economics and tourism and this was all before the halfway ascent point of Vilaflor, and the first pit stop, was reached. And after a perfectly timed refreshment/souvenir stop, it was then onwards and upwards, literally, into Teide National Park, with further information coming thick and fast from Victor about the trees and forests and then various rocks and peaks that began to dominate the landscape. With a few more picture taking opportunity stop offs, again just the right length of time, before making our way to Restaurante Papillon for a pre sunset refuel. With no real expectation of a fine dining experience for the more than reasonable price paid for this outing, patently, we weren't disappointed but even though the 3 courses offered were plain in their simplicity (vegetable soup, breadcrumb coated boneless chicken with papas arrugadas - canarian wrinkled potatoes - with veg and (count it) one mushroom and a trickle of gravy finished with chocolate mousse). What was particularly impressive, though, was the ample supply of beer, wine, bottled water and Coca Cola to accompany the meal. And after this satisfactory satiation which was over and done in around 80 minutes, we were then hastening, with focused determination towards our rendezvous point with a sunset. And it surpassed any and all expectation......and then some. With a solid bank of clouds rolling out ocean like to the horizon and the sun seemingly dropping down into them...truly unlike anything the average wanderer has seen and really has to be experienced first hand to truly appreciate. And, with darkness now aplenty, we made our way to the final couple of viewing points for the star gazing experience. Firstly, with the naked eye as Victor expertly picked out and indicated stars, constellations, planets and even satellites and the ISS, with his laser pointer and, again, gave a hugely passionate and informative description of all things of the universe and relatedly Greek, Roman or Chinese. It felt like this was a passion he was sharing with us all, rather than just learning a script. And finally to the telescopes. Already set up and pre programmed to move to designated co-ordinates, we viewed the moon, a pair of stars and a glittering nebula. Any seasoned astronomer may have seen it before but as newbie to telescopes I found it a wonderfully unique experience, especially the moon. And, as it was my partners birthday, it just felt like a perfect ending to a truly beautiful and unique experience. Very well put together, totally enjoyable and so very glad we made this choice. Really decent price and outstanding tour guide..... But one mushroom guys??? No, seriously awesome, thank you for the experience.

Great Experience- would highly recommend - We did a similar experience to this in 2017 when we visited Tenerife (through Tui) and really enjoyed it, this time we were travelling with my father in law and really wanted to let him experience too. This time was better than the last. We were staying in the North of the island and were picked up in a minibus, we had a group of 17. Jesper our host and Carlos our driver were brilliant. Jesper provided a great amount of history of the island and kept us well informed of the itinerary all the way through. It seems like a long trip but with small stops at regular intervals, refreshment and toilet breaks, a 3 course meal and the sunset and stargazing it really is brilliant. If you were going to book an excursion in Tenerife I would 100% recommend booking this one. Views of both Teide and stars that you can't get anywhere else, its amazing. Tip- we booked through Viator and were told there was only one pick up hotel in the North so ended up getting a taxi to it. However if you book via Teidi be Night there are multiple pick ups, including the hotel we were staying in! Carlos and Jesper were brilliant and dropped us back off near our hotel when we returned.

Best experience ever, and a shared memory for my daughter and I. Nothing bad to say.me and my teenage daughter - Took my 16 year old daughter after finishing her gcse's. This was the only reason we went to tenerife, so I was very nervous. We got picked up in the north at 3pm and dropped back at around midnight. I had no reason to worry. The whole experience was absolutely amazing. So many photos, so many experiences. Yasper, with a J (lol sorry Jasper) truly was extraordinary. Bearing in mind the amount of time we spent travelling, you could be concerned the journey my be boring... not a chance, Jasper knew everything there was to know about every area in tenerife we passed through, sharing information about the origins of the people, the landscape the traditions and more. I don't really want to much about mount teides itself, because to do so would take the experience away from whoever is reading this, but needless to say, it was amazing. (I can attach a picture of the moon that jasper helped me take through the eyepiece of the telescope, but even that does not do the real view justice.) We had a really cloudy day, but mount teides was above all that and we looked down on the clouds whilst looking up in awe at the stars, which i was told, wasn't as good a view as it should have been due to the bright moon phase.... i wouldn't have known it could be better had i not been told. Oh, and Randomly chatted to some other tourists, charlie, lisa and westley, (but call him wes!) Whilst we had our included 3 course meal (unexpectedly tasty for an included meal) and pretty much as much wine beer or coca cola (for my daughter) as we could manage...... and we noted that the fanta, which was also free, made an interesting sangria when mixed with the red wine lol!!! A couple more things i should note, although there were a number of photo opportunities where we had say 30 minutes or so to explore, there was very little walking involved in this tour, which was actually a delight to my teenage daughter, but would also be really great if you're not so good with walking long distances. Secondly, the Jasper's knoweledge appeared limitless, one second he was chatting to me about how nice the moon looked, and the next he was talking hotspots and plates to a volcanoligist student, all the way through the tour there was somethi g to learn, and honestly, the only way i could take it all in is if i go again, which i may well do! Jasper, I cannot give you enough praise - you said you've been doing this for 35 years, it clearly shows. The trip was educational, awe inspiring, and is probably to date the best group tour I have ever experienced, and given the 4.5 hour cruise i went on the day before yesterday, you really had a high mark to meet. No question, this was the best tour i have ever been on, thankyou!
