Absolutely worth it - We were lucky to experience this tour one night after the new moon. It was tranquil and dreamy. There were diamonds on our skin.

Magical experience! - We had a great time on this tour hunting white bioluminescence. Our pick up was on time, the minibus was very comfortable and our driver, Johnny was great. The boat trip to the blackout tents was lovely and the white bioluminescence sparked off our skin like millions of tiny diamonds. Unforgettable!

Overpriced but amazing to see - Tour was punctual, personable and well executed. The bioluminescence was amazing to see. I believe I overpaid by a lot as places in town would do it for 1/3 the price.

Bioluminescence in Laguna Manialtepec, Oaxaca - I had seen videos and photos of the so-called "bioluminescence" effect, so I was expecting to see practically the water shine. Spoiler's fin: it wasn't. To start, this tour was offered at the Hotel Making Real Puerto Escondido (see hotel review), at a cost of 890.00 Pesos per Person. We thought we could find it cheaper somewhere else. In Playa Carrizalillo we found it at 800 pesos, and finally we hired it at a cost of 600 pesos with a local that we found on Blvd Benito Juarez. The dynamics with the three options are the same: they pass you to the hotel where you are staying and take you to the place where the dive takes place. Bioluminescence is best seen in photos and videos: in real life it is not like in Avatar. Supposedly the effect we had to see was white, but to do so, we had to move so that the water reacted, and gave off opaque white tones. My feeling at the time, and so far, was disappointment, but bad, good (or less bad): I was disappointed with 600 pesos and not with almost 900.

First timers - The staff were really friendly, however our expectations were different than reality. The ride there was long and I am not sure it was worth it. The water was warm and when moved there was some bioluminescence. We were expecting more. The van was very well air conditioned, maybe too much for having been wet in the night time

Terrible experience - I am in Mexico and have had a terrible last two days and needed to cancel my trip. Day 1 - (original booking) I was stranded at a toll road due to a municipal government protest, I sat in 90 degree heat with no cell service with no way to contact the business. When I arrived back I messaged the service to let them know. They kindly rescheduled for the next day. Day 2 - 15 minutes before pick up I began violently throwing up and asked how to cancel. I was told I could not. I never cancel last minute and I’ve never had situations like this when traveling to Mexico. But this was about $250USD. And because of the unfortunate events I missed this 3 hour tour because I leave tomorrow. Moreover, the hotel I’m staying at had the same tour for longer and only $80 vs the $115 +tax/tip. I never book things on here because I don’t want to be locked in and once you get somewhere you can speak to locals on how to get the best deal… THIS is not it, it’s a rip off for tourists. Admittedly, I didn’t cancel 24 hours in advance but there was no way I could have and no partial refund makes me not want to use Trip Advisory again. Please just be aware if an emergency comes up… you’re gonna be screwed out of a significant amount of money. Go with a local provider versus this tourist trap.
