It’s not worth it… - I went yesterday (January 19, 2025) to Punta Tombo, and it was a really disappointing experience. Tourist agencies present this excursion as something wonderful: lots of penguins around you… that’s what they say. But they don’t tell you there’s a rope you can’t cross, and beyond it are all the penguins (and there weren’t even that many). Basically, you see some of them up close but can’t get too close. Moreover, their color blends with the landscape, so even the photos don’t turn out well. The excursion is rushed: 2 hours by car to get there, 2 hours to return, an hour and a half inside the penguin reserve, which was very disappointing, and a quick stop at Isla Escondida to see the sea elephants. Going to the penguin reserve is like going to any zoo. Cost of the excursion: 130 dollars plus 19 dollars to enter the reserve. A total of 150 dollars!! I totally do not recommend it! It’s an excursion designed to take money from tourists… If you can, rent a car and go there on your own without a tourist agency.
