Puerto Maldonado – Amazon Lodge – Monkey Island

Monkey Island - A tour guide will greet travelers at the airport or bus station. They will then proceed to the Palotoa Amazon Travel office for registration (passport and flight details required). Following this, a boat ride down the Madre de Dios River will lead to the lodge. After an hour on the boat, guests will arrive at the lodge and be welcomed with a refreshing exotic fruit juice. Room keys will be provided. After a brief rest, a two-hour jungle walk is scheduled. The guide will share insights about the lush vegetation, including trees that are 500 years old. There will be opportunities to see birds (such as parrots and macaws), monkeys, snakes, and butterflies, offering a glimpse into the enchanting jungle. In the evening, a boat ride on the Madre de Dios River will be arranged to spot caimans, identifiable by their shiny red eyes in the flashlight beam. Capybaras, the largest rodents in the world, may also be observed. Dinner will be served back at the lodge.

Amazon Lodge – Canopy – Sandoval Lake

Lago Sandoval - An early start at 5:30 a.m. will take guests to a 40-meter-high canopy. From this vantage point, various species of monkeys can be observed, providing a unique perspective of the Amazon. The journey continues with a boat ride to the Tambopata National Reserve. After a 3-kilometer walk, the stunning Sandoval Lake awaits, home to a diverse array of wildlife, including birds, monkeys, and sloths. Following a traditional lunch, a boat ride on the lake offers closer encounters with the animals. On a fortunate day, giant otters (endangered species) or large black caimans (the largest recorded at five meters long) might be seen. The return to the lodge is timed with sunset. Dinner and free time follow.

Amazon Lodge – Piranhas Fishing

Lago Sandoval - After breakfast, a short jungle walk leads to a small river for piranha fishing. Lunch follows, and after a rest, guests will return to the jungle for an adventurous challenge, including tree-climbing. A specialist will guide the experience, ensuring safety and excitement. Dinner concludes the day.

Amazon Lodge – Puerto Maldonado

Puerto Maldonado - After a hearty breakfast, a motorized boat will take guests to the parrot clay lick, where various parrot species can be seen consuming clay. Returning to the lodge for breakfast, the day continues with a visit to a native jungle family. The guide will explain the indigenous lifestyle and customs. After lunch, the journey back to the city includes a visit to the local market to explore tropical fruits. Transfers to the bus station will be arranged.
