Nice tour of Puerto Vallarta. - Hugo was a very good guide. He was concerned about our safety. He provided information and showed us places that I had not seen before.

Unforgettable Adventure — Felt Like a Private Tour! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - We loved every moment of this experience! We booked the City & Mountain E-Bike Tour through Marriott, and it ended up being the highlight of our entire trip to Puerto Vallarta.
First, a note for anyone reading some of the more cautious reviews:
Yes, this tour is adventurous — but that’s exactly what makes it so incredible. If you’re comfortable on a bike and have some experience riding in cities or on varied terrain, you will absolutely love it. We’re avid city e-bikers, and this was challenging in the best possible way.
What made our day even more special is that we were the only two riders, so it felt like a private tour! Our guide Katy was fantastic—warm, patient, attentive, and full of local knowledge. She even brought me honey Halls for my lingering laryngitis, which was the sweetest surprise. ❤️
The ride itself is unforgettable:
Biking through cobblestone streets and local neighborhoods
Crossing the suspension bridge near the Río Cuale flea market (and spotting the stray cats who live there!)
Climbing into the Sierra Madres with breathtaking views
And finally relaxing at a jungle-top restaurant with food, drinks, and natural spring pools
Bring: a towel, swimwear, and an adventurous spirit. The restaurant accepts credit cards, which was super convenient.
For travelers wondering:
It’s safe — guides are attentive, and the pace is manageable.
It’s not a beginner ride, but you definitely don’t need to be an athlete.
It’s worth every penny for the scenery, culture, and pure fun.
This tour shows you the real Puerto Vallarta beyond the Malecón — authentic neighborhoods, mountain villages, and hidden gems you’d never find otherwise.
We would do this again in a heartbeat. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Great mix of City and off road biking - Great mix of riding through parts of the city and getting a history lesson. Then going up into the Sierra Madres mountain. You need to know how to ride a bike because the mountain part is a unkept dirt road. which is windy. The city and parts of the mountain are on cobbled roads. My family and I loved every part. We stopped for lunch on the mountain at an outdoor restaurant with really good food and then was able to swim in natural spring pools. It has been the best part of our trip so far. The guides Juan and Brian were excellent! They were engaging and looked out for us. Thank you! A+

Urban and jungle adventure - Best tour/excursion we did in PV. Hugo was knowledgeable and enthusiastic, and although it was only Alexander’s second day, he will be a great guide. The ride through town and neighborhoods were scenic and culturally enlightening. Riding to the mountain area, through the canyon and following the river was absolutely stunning! At the turn around point, there was a gorgeous pool and river to soak and cool off…we didn’t know about the pools, so bring a swim suit towel. Having above average biking skills, we realized this activity might be a challenge for the average person.

Best in Bike Business - We kind of weaseled out of the Mountain route but swapped it for the Taco Tour instead. It was AWESOME! These guys are just fun, patient and kind. And there were a few "special" guests who required some extra patience. This tour took us through the busy Malecon and to several stops to taste delicious local tacos. It was just the adventurous but not too difficult bike tour we needed. A++ all the way. Don't miss!

A challenging adventure into the mountains and back. - I have rented electric bikes in other cities around the world before. This was my most challenging ride ever. My friend and I started at the bike shop where we met our two tour guides and got our bikes and helmets. The bikes have fat tires so they can traverse rough terrain and sandy terrain. There was just the two of us riders and we had two guides. This is a very challenging ride and should not be taken lightly. I recommend you only do it if you are very very competent on a bicycle. I have ridden, bicycles, motorcycles, and ATVs, my entire life, and I needed all those experiences to handle this ride. You also need to be in decent shape. You will be paddling up the hills with the assist of the electric motor. The mountain hills are loose, winding and Steep in places. I I would absolutely not take children on this ride. And I would only take a teenager if he was experienced in mountain biking through difficult terrain. You will be riding on very rough cobblestones through the city. You cross very narrow, bridges and will ride close to some drop offs. Once you get to the mountains, the soil is loose, gravel and powdery dirt. The electric bike helps you get up the hills, but you still have to pedal hard to get up them. Your ride ends up at a bar in the mountains, which is a nice place to cool down an and get a drink. They have some river pools below that you can go check out if you feel like taking a hike. We were too tired from the bike ride up to check them out. The area is very pleasant but a little more expensive than in town. The road back is easier on the legs because you’re mostly you’re going down the hill. Just one big hill to climb. But the roads down ate loose gravel so you have to be very careful. Make sure your brakes work good before you leave the bike shop, you will need them coming down the mountain. If you go too fast you could crash or miss a turn. Someone out of control coming down the hill could severely injured themselves. Once you get back to town, you’re back on the rough cobblestones until you get to the Malecon. From here it is smooth sailing back to the bike shop. I told the guys they need to plan a 20 mile circuit through the city, avoiding cobblestones where possible. It would be less painful and a lot more fun. Our guides were very friendly and helpful. We were glad there were only two of us and that we had two guides. My friends battery died just before we got to the top of the mountain. One of the guides switched bicycles with him and took it back to the shop while we went to the top. I don’t regret doing this bike ride, It was definitely an adventure and got to see some beautiful parts of Puerto Vallarta we had not seen before. However my butt may be sore for a couple of days. 😁

Great scenery but check your bikes before starting!! - The experience over all was good. The tour guide and helper were great. They did a good job through the day guiding us through the town and mountains.
They need to do a better job communicating. They did not contact us prior to the trip even though I reached out. They or Viator have not updated their address and we almost missed the tour because the meeting place address was wrong. They moved in July 2025 and are a few blocks away. So confirm the location. If we didn’t ask someone locally where it was we would have missed it and almost did. We caught the group by chance leaving and they turned around to get us in the tour which was good. The bikes themselves could have used maintenance. Two of the 4 bikes did not shift at all which made it nearly impossible to go up the mountain. Normally with e-bikes when you raise the number you are able to “get more assistance”. No matter what number (1-5) I put the bikes on it did not make a difference. Just killed the battery more. My battery actually went dead about half way through the tour but the tour guide switched out my bike with his. He said when we get to the top he could charge the batteries but they did not. Another bike in the group kept cutting out and dying as he was going up the hills. It’s a very hilly terrain and you need to be able to down shift and use the assist without the battery going dead.
So my recommendation is do the tour but check your bike shifting and battery level BEFORE starting.

Purchase a confirmed ticket—cancelled with no notification. - I booked and paid ($359)for the e bike excursion. I received the 3 confirmed tickets on email. Two days before the cycle trip,I received a request for hotel information . I supplied the info the next day. I then called the e-bike company and they said the trip was full and we couldn’t go.we got canceled even though we bought and paid for 3 tickets. Subsequent calls to viatar and e-bike tours in puerto Vallarta were fruitless with each company pacing blame on the other. Resolutions was to refund my money. Which I have not received. If I don’t receive a refund in the next couple of days I will contact my credit card fraud department to reverse payment. Spoiled my birthday gift,
