Great Experience - Our driver was absolutely amazing! He was also our main guide on the tour! Made the lunch and Tequila tasting so cool as well as seeing the tortillas being made. Even though we went during the dry season (didn't know that) the trail was still so unique and the spared us the hike to the waterfall since it was dry. Overall, wonderful experience!

My favorite tour in Puerto Vallarta - This was my favorite tour during my vacation in Puerto Vallarta. Our tour guide was very friendly and made us all feel very safe while writing the horses, which were very gentle. The staff at the restaurant were so accommodating and never allowed our Margarita glasses to be empty! Also, the food was top-tier. This was an excellent value, not to mention, they pick you up and drop you off.

Good experience, would do... - Good experience, would do it again! Our guide picked us up on time and then it was an hour and fifteen minutes drive out to the ranch. Our guide told us about restaurants and other spots along the way. The ride was cool, as we went through a first and stream bed and then went for a hike to a waterfall at the end. It was pretty hot, so dress accordingly. Afterwards we had a nice lunch at the ranch and then they dropped us off at our starting location. My house was a little moody, but the rest were nice and calm.

Great Experience - I cannot say enough good things about this experience. We went with our family and were not experienced with riding horses whatsoever... but they did a great job with helping us on and off the horse, showing us how to steer (although we did not even need to as the horses knew the trail by heart) and they were SO attentive. The ride does go over a rocky trail and that can seem scary but the horses are used to it and navigate it with no issues. It was a beautiful ride where we got off and hiked to the waterfall. Be prepared for the hike as it is steep in some areas and wear good shoes that won't slip. But it was awesome once you get there. After the ride back we went to eat, we were given drinks and they had stuff for each person to make their own pico de gallo, and then we got to enjoy a delicious meal where we were able to see tortillas be made. There was also a nice little tequila tasting, which was DELICIOUS. Overall I would say this was the best thing we did on our trip, and my whole family agrees. Well worth the money and definitely something we will do again :)

A relaxed, scenic, and... - A relaxed, scenic, and shady ride along a riverbed on calm and well-taken care of horses. The waterfall was beautiful, even in the dry season. Lunch was great too, as was the tequila tasting!

Great family excursion! - It was a nice family excursion. Pros: - well organized - beautiful location - good meal - decent drinks - tasty tequila shots - well trained animals - friendly and knowledgeable staff Cons: - some of the staff spoke virtually no English, but enough of them did so not a big issue - very rocky terrain which made me feel bad for the horse, but I suppose they are used to it All in all, an enjoyable excursion that the whole family enjoyed!

Behavior management plan needed and dry season no joke - Pros: -great pick up experience -enjoyable scenic drive to ranch -beautiful horses, cows, scenery -Great lunch -we were lucky and part of a smaller group, 13 guests and 3 guides -positive horseback riding experience for my kids age 7 and 10. My daughter a horse lover who takes lessons and my son who's only been on a horse a couple times. Cons: -I really should've taken the warning from other reviews about dry season. I thought, how dry can the river be in April? So dry that when we stopped to do the on foot hike to the waterfall, the staff basically said, it's not worth your time. I think they should sell the excursion under a different name and price in the dry season because all the confirmation info says swimsuit, towels, etc... for the waterfall. Then, the day before, they confirmed my pick up location and said bring sneakers, no swimsuit or towels needed. -we did the hike anyway and the switchbacks were a bit slippery with loose soil and the handrail fence was sometimes very wiggly and looked like it needed replacing 10 years ago. -they talked about a cooking lesson with lunch and had ingredients laid out for diy pico de gallo. We sat and waited for a bit and then just chopped it up. A tiny bit of hosting could've made this fun. We did enjoy seeing traditional woodfire stove being used to cook tortillas and our kids were able to join in. -margaritas were sub par and I needed a strong drink because... - there was a kid in our group that was out of control. There needs to be a plan of how to handle this. 2 of the guides could have ridden with him like a sandwich. They could've put his horse on a lead rope. They could have walked his horse. I actually suggested two groups for the way back and we did have separate transportation (they had combo with zip line), but I meant 2 horse groups so that he could be better controlled. He kept yelling at his horse and didn't understand the steering concept at all. -they could've done more instructions for kids and done a little comprehension check. This would've revealed that this kid was not ready. His mom was worried for him to ride and thought he might ride double with dad. He was too big. Maybe 8? That red flag combined with his constant yelling "giddy up! Go faster! Faster! Come on!" Should've spurn the staff into action to keep the kid safe and keep the atmosphere enjoyable for others. It's not like the waterfall, which was out of their control. There were missed opportunities for setting and enforcing expectations, and adapting the experience as necessary.

Untrustworthy - Include some fine print - Make sure you consider the season in your decision to do this tour. I went in April, which is during the dry season. I had no idea, however of the sad, sorry state in which I would find the mountains. Having been through the jungles of the beautiful Sierra Madre several times before, I was really looking forward to taking a journey on horseback and enjoy a refreshing dip in the waterfall. What I experienced was a far cry from the marketing photo on the tour listing page. We crossed 20 rivers, all of which were dry as dust. There was no canopy to provide shade as the tree leaves were all dried and shriveled. There were a lot of cows and goats up there and you could see their ribs they were so undernourished. The place was so dry that a very large tree fell down behind our group startling the horses. Our rear tour guide came within a few arms lengths of losing his and his horse's life. It was not safe to be out there with trees falling. We tied up our horses and made the very, very challenging hike to the waterfall. Normally, with a hike like that, you receive the payoff of a lovely dip in a waterfall. The waterfall, unfortunately was dry as dust. I could see how it will be beautiful after the rainy season but there was nothing to enjoy on this trip. I was so upset. The company could have done the courtesy of including a disclaimer about the dry season but they withheld that information and took our hard earned money. The second disappointment was that the advertised "cooking class" never happened. I envisioned my group sitting down to a meal together but that didn't happen as they split up the group and took most of them away for some add-on activities. I'm sure this tour is great in October. Had the company provided a disclaimer about dry season and off-season, I would not have signed up for that particular tour on that trip. I just feel it's very dishonest dealings and it sours my trust in them.
