Delicious Food and Great Company - We had an amazing private food tour in Vallarta! Our custom group stopped at several small, family-owned spots, each serving up truly delicious local dishes. Every stop felt authentic and full of character. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable, sharing stories and insights about the area’s history, traditions, and flavors. This was a wonderful way to experience real Vallarta beyond the tourist areas — a perfect excursion to immerse yourself in the local culture. Highly recommend!

Unbeatably delicious and pleasant comida tour, with a superb guide, that was worth every cent. Gracias!! - STELLAR in every aspect!! Joana was charming and extremely well informed, and communicated flawlessly. Her insights into local history and the histories of the food sites we visited added greatly to our enjoyment. She guided us through a series of tacos, ahogada, margaritas, pastries and ice cream that will be long and warmly remembered. We will book again when we return.

Joana made this tour better than expected - I've been on food tours around the world and this is, hands down, my favorite so far. Ask for Joana if you want to have the most educating tour ever! Not only did we see parts of the area we would not have on our own, we got the history of the families who create this amazing food. Joana urged us to dive in to all of the flavors presented to us. She was easy to understand, her voice carries well, she catered to our interests and went out of her way to make this the best experience possible. Be sure to come hungry!! Also bring pesos so you can shop in the non-touristy areas if possible.

Excellent experience. - Joana provided an exceptional experience for us. She is extremely knowledgeable as she is certified by the Mexican government to conduct tours at any location within Mexico. The food and drinks were fantastic; do not eat breakfast as there is plenty of food to enjoy. The transportation was in a new Mercedes Benz van that was very comfortable. Once again, fantastic tour! - My wife and I took this tour a few years ago and we absolutely loved it. The tour was great and our guide-Joana was wonderful. We traveled back to Puerto Vallarta this year (July 2025) with our daughter and we wanted her to experience this tour. On checking in with the tour company we were thrilled to find our tour guide was again Joana. We had an absolutely amazing experience on our food tour. From start to finish, she was knowledgeable, passionate, and incredibly engaging. Her love for the local cuisine and culture was contagious, and she brought the tour to life with fascinating stories, historical insights, and personal touches that made the whole day feel special. Each stop on the tour was carefully chosen,family owned and offered delicious food. Each restaurant was a hidden gem known only to the locals. . Restaurants we never would have found on our own. Joana made sure to cater to everyone's tastes and dietary preferences with ease and warmth. We truly loved our tour and the food. Yummy - We booked a private tour with a van pick up and drop off at our hotel. There were four of us. Since my husband is having trouble getting around, this was the perfect solution for us. Joana is very knowledgeable and accommodating. We never felt rushed at any of the stops and thoroughly enjoyed our time with her. There was a good variety of tacos as well as a fabulous stop at the bakery. If you’re looking for a Food Tours, these guys are the best. And I’ve been with the other Tour group previously. Overstimulated…:-) - Absolutely an amazing tour! If you want to experience the best local food, eating at family owned establishments and touring through various neighborhoods of the city, then this is your tour! We rode in an air conditioned van and navigated our way to taster’s delight. Miel was a phenomenal tour guide. Not only was she able to share from her own upbringing and the joy these foods played in her life, but she is also a professional food historian and boy, when I tell you she educated us on the origin of so much food that we all eat, it was amazing!!!

Wonderful food tour! - Joana and Vallarta Food tours have ensured that our next visit to P.V. will not be at an all-inclusive hotel! We tried a variety of amazing food in several different types of restaurants in different neighborhoods and learned about the history of the establishments. We also learned how the food is prepared and how very fresh the ingredients are. Joana educated us on many different types of tacos and Puerta Vallarta, and where locals shop. We had some extra time, so she took us to a spice store where she showed us the types of spices and chillies the locals buy. She was highly entertaining, and her explanations were very detailed. Traveling by car allowed us to visit many different places throughout the city and she talked about the different areas. The tour was fun and informative. Not only did we have the best tacos we ever ate, we tried some options that we wouldn’t have tried on our own. We are more comfortable stopping at and ordering from a taco stand than we would have been prior to the tour. Joana was friendly and energetic, and we would highly recommend this tour.

A DELICIOUS Tuesday afternoon - This was the most amazing tour ever! Our guide, Joana, was an absolute delight to be with during the day. She educated us on many different types of tacos and the general area. Her breadth of knowledge was impressive. The food was amazing and left us mouth watering for more. Traveling by car allowed us to visit many different places throughout the city instead of in one general area. I am definitely going to take more tours from Vallarta Food Tours.
