The traditional tale of Ubin’s creation speaks of a Frog, a Pig, and an Elephant who challenged each other to a race from Singapore to Johor across the Straits. Those who failed would be transformed into stone. The frog did not succeed and became Pulau Sekudu, or Frog Island. The Pig and Elephant also failed, turning into Pulau Ubin.
According to one legend, Ubin was initially two separate islands divided by the Jelutong River. When prawn farming began on the island, mud banks (known as bunds) were constructed to dam the river, eventually merging the two parts.
Unbeknownst to many, the island remains divided. This unique “Eco Tour,” lasting 4 hours and covering a distance of 7km, will reveal the division, taking you right across Pulau Ubin along a secure path rarely traveled. Among the mangroves, enjoy the wildlife and the peacefulness. Civilization is never far away. Simply glide along the waterway and experience the tranquility of untouched surroundings.

As an island city, Ohana Beach House acknowledges the importance of contributing to the prevention and reversal of negative environmental impacts. Each trip includes a marine debris cleanup initiative, where clients are equipped with tools (gloves/trash bags) to collect marine debris.
