Aga Khan Palace - A grand structure with deep ties to the Indian freedom movement, the Aga Khan Palace served as a prison for Mahatma Gandhi, his wife Kasturba Gandhi, his secretary Mahadev Desai, and Sarojini Naidu. It is also where Kasturba Gandhi and Mahadev Desai passed away. The palace is a major tourist attraction in Pune due to its historical importance, stunning architecture, century-old trees, and well-maintained gardens. Shaniwar Wada - Shaniwarwada is a 300-year-old historical fort and a key tourist attraction in Pune. Constructed in 1732 in the Maratha Imperial Architectural style, it was the seat of the Peshwas of the Maratha Empire until 1818. As the Maratha Empire rose, the fort became a political hub in the 18th century. Although largely destroyed by fire in 1828, the remaining structures are preserved as a tourist site. Originally a seven-story building, it was reduced to its stone base after an attack by British artillery, which left only the stone base intact. In June 1818, Peshwa Bajirao II abdicated to Sir John Malcolm of the British East India Company and went into political exile in Bithoor, near Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh.

Lal Mahal - The Lal Mahal, or Red Palace, is a renowned monument in Pune where Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the founder of the Maratha Empire, spent his childhood. Built in 1630 AD by Shivaji Maharaj’s father, Shahaji Raje Bhosale, for his wife Jijabai and son, Shivaji Maharaj lived here until he captured his first fort. The original Lal Mahal was constructed to rejuvenate the city of Pune after it was razed, and Shivaji Maharaj resided here until he captured Torna fort in 1645. Shivaji Maharaj’s marriage to Saibai took place at Lal Mahal on May 16, 1640.
