Explore Chittorgarh Fort, once the capital of Mewar, which stretches over a hill 180 meters high, covering an area of 280 hectares above the plains of the valley, drained by the Berach River. The fort features several historical palaces, gates, a temple, and two notable commemorative towers. According to legend, Alauddin Khilji, the first to sack Chittor, was captivated by the royal beauty of Rani Padmini and desired to possess her. However, the noble queen chose death over dishonor and committed “Jauhar” (mass self-immolation).

The Vijaya Stambha, or Tower of Victory, is a 9-meter wide tower located within Chittor Fort in Chittorgarh. It was built by the Mewar king, Rana Kumbha, in 1448 to celebrate his victory over Mahmud Khilji. The tower is dedicated to Vishnu. The Kriti Stambha, or Tower of Fame, is another significant feature of Chittor Fort.
