- Besh Barmag Mountain - Traveling along the M1 motorway, which links Azerbaijan’s capital with Russia’s major cities, travelers will encounter Beshbarmak Mountain near the Caspian Sea coast. This mountain is a pilgrimage site for locals and has served as a navigational landmark for sailors due to its height and shape. At the base of Beshbarmag Mountain lies the sacred site “Pir Hydyr Zundzha,” where travelers pause for prayer and worship. A knowledgeable guide will share the mythical tales associated with this location.
- Candy Cane Mountain - Situated in the Khizi and Siyazan districts of Azerbaijan, the Candy Cane Mountains are part of the Greater Caucasus range. Travel author Mark Elliott first named them in his guidebook ‘Azerbaijan with Excursions to Georgia.’ The mountains’ striking colors result from groundwater altering the oxidation state of iron compounds in the soil.
- Qirmizi Qasaba - The journey continues to Guba city, nestled in one of Azerbaijan’s most picturesque landscapes. En route, visitors will explore “Caucasian Jerusalem” - the Red Town, a unique Jewish settlement in the mountains. The village boasts 13 synagogues, two of which are active, and is home to approximately 4-5 thousand Jews, symbolizing Azerbaijan’s religious pluralism and harmony.
- Qechresh - As one of the largest villages in the Guba region, Qechresh is surrounded by forests and renowned for its natural springs and flora. Along the route, there are recreational areas and restaurants offering local cuisine.
- Tengealti - Beyond the Gechresh forest lies the Gudyalchay canyons, featuring steep ascents and descents through the gorge’s towering walls. The road, flanked by mountains and cliffs, offers a stunning view of this charming village.
- Khinalug - To reach Khinalig village safely, a 4x4 off-road vehicle is used to navigate an alternative route due to damage on the main road.
Khinalig, a UNESCO-listed historical monument, is renowned for its inaccessibility, unique language, architecture, and culture, drawing tourists worldwide. Declared an ethnographic reserve in 2007, the village’s amphitheater-like houses resemble eagle nests, with one house’s roof serving as the courtyard for the one above. Visitors may spot eagles, wild horses, and low-hanging clouds en route. Lunch will feature traditional Azerbaijani dishes at a local home.
- Guba-Khachmaz Region - The journey will take at least 8 hours round trip.
- Gosha Gala Tower - The tour concludes at the starting point, with optional drop-off service available to hotels or any address in Baku.
