Xiaoyushan Park is a prime scenic location along Qingdao’s coastline. Despite its modest elevation, it offers stunning views of Huiquan Bay and other attractions such as Zhanqiao Pier, Little Qingdao Isle, Lu Xun Park, and the Eight Passes Scenic Area. From the hilltop, enjoy a picturesque landscape of red tiles, green trees, azure skies, and the blue ocean. “Fish Hill Autumn Moon” is celebrated as one of Qingdao’s Top Ten Scenic Spots. The pier, originally constructed in 1891 as a warehouse, extends approximately 440 meters from Taiping Road into the sea. An octagonal pavilion now graces its southern end, providing a perfect spot to admire the sea view and the juxtaposition of modern architecture with the old German concession.
10:30 Explore Badagaun - Eight Great Passes Scenic Area
The Eight Great Passes Area once featured eight avenues named after famous Chinese passes. On October 12, 1898, German Kaiser Wilhelm II officially named the Jiao’ao Concession area as Qingdao, applying the most advanced European city planning concepts of the late 19th century. The Badaguan villa area emerged from this planning, showcasing a ‘museum of world architecture’ with nearly a hundred villas in diverse styles.

Qingdao Brewery, founded by the Germans at the century’s turn, is perhaps one of the few positive remnants of Western colonialism in China. Some original wooden machinery remains in use, though new bottling machines from Germany are being introduced. Visitors receive a “briefing with beer,” served ice-cold in traditional green bottles, instead of the usual “briefing with tea.”
