State Historical, Architectural and Ethnographic Reserve Khinalig - During the Guba & Khinalig Tour, the northern region of Azerbaijan will be explored. The first stop is Guba city, known for its mosques and Carpet Weaving factory, making it one of Azerbaijan’s oldest cities. Visitors will be enchanted by Guba’s unique nature, stunning landscapes, pleasant climate, and fresh air. The tour then proceeds to Azerbaijan’s highest village, “Xinaliq” or “Khinalug”; also known as Khanaluka, Khanalyk, Khinalykh, or Khynalyk. This ancient Caucasian village dates back to the Caucasian Albanian period and is situated high in the mountains of the Guba Region, Azerbaijan. Khinalig is one of the world’s oldest continuously inhabited places, with a history spanning over 5,000 years. Its high altitude and isolation have helped it withstand numerous invasions.
Note: This experience is weather-dependent. If canceled due to adverse weather, an alternative date or a full refund will be offered. - MestDergah - Following the visit to Khinalig Village, the tour continues to Mastargah Waterfall. Although the waterfall is not large, it offers a picturesque spot for photography. There is a restaurant in the waterfall area where visitors can enjoy a meal or take a tea break.
- The Guba Genocide Memorial Complex - On the return journey to Guba (Quba) city, the tour includes a visit to the Guba Genocide Memorial Complex. Thousands have visited this site to honor the centenary of the Azerbaijani Genocide of March 1918. The Guba burial site of genocide victims was discovered during excavations on April 1, 2007. In 2009, the Cabinet of Ministers approved an “Action Plan to perpetuate the victims of mass murder in Guba,” which included creating a memorial and enhancing the site of the mass graves. Research has linked the burial to the genocide committed by Armenians against the local civilian population in 1918. The remains of over 400 individuals of various ages were found, including Azerbaijanis, Lezgins, Jews, Tats, and other ethnic groups residing in Guba.
