• Blackness Castle - Blackness is a beautifully preserved castle on the banks of the River Forth. Initially constructed as a prison, it held Jacobites during the 18th-century rebellion. This location famously served as Fort William in Outlander, the base of Black Jack Randall.
• Linlithgow Palace - A 14th-century palace ruin, Linlithgow Palace is the birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots and was depicted as Wentworth Prison in Outlander. While the palace’s interior is currently closed, visitors can still access the grounds and take exterior photographs.
• Doune Castle - Situated on the River Teith, Doune Castle is a magnificent 14th-century structure. Originally built for the Duke of Albany, it is owned by Clan Murray. This castle plays a significant role in Outlander as Castle Leoch and is a must-visit for any fan of the series.
