Manuel Antonio Private Tour with Jacob is a Must! - We did a private tour with Jacob in the morning and had a fabulous experience. Definitely go in the morning and ask for Jacob. He knew where everything was. He went to school to learn how to be a guide and he definitely knew what he was doing. It was amazing what he could spot. There’s no way we would have seen the animals he saw without him. He took pictures for us through his telescope so no need to bring a big camera. We saw sloths, monkeys, bats, frogs, chupacabra, hummingbirds, deer, etc. He knew the name of every bird we saw and knew their sounds. Jacob was very patient with our elderly parents. We were a group of 6 with our parents, ourselves that are in our 50’s and our adult children ages 27 and 20. I highly recommend getting a private tour with Jacob.

Outstanding Tour Guide - If you visit Manuel Antonio National Park GET A GUIDE. Our family had a private tour with Jacob and it was OUTSTANDING. Jacobs extensive knowledge incredible enthusiasm and love of nature made this an unforgettable experience. We saw so much and learned so much. Go early or go in the evening in between is hot so the animals hide. Take water in a reusable bottle they search bags at the entrance to ensure that the park remains beautiful and safe for the animals. Without a guide with the magnificent telescopes you will see very little if anything. Jacob spotted SO much it was like a tour with David Attenborough! Jacob used one of our phones to capture the most incredible pictures and videos we were so grateful. Sloths/Deer/Monkeys/Snakes/Crocodile/Crabs - wow wow wow. You HAVE to have a guide - Jacob was the very best and was telling Park Rangers and other guides where to look for their groups - he made this tour outstanding - thank you Jacob.

Excellent Experience. - Alex was an excellent guide. He was kind, patient and answered all our questions. His deep knowledge of the wildlife, trees and other plants made the tour extremely interesting. In fact his passion for nature came through at every turn. To top things off, he grew up the tree area and shared many special insights. There is no way I’d consider going to the park without a guide and if I had my preference, I’d choose Alex to be my guide every time.

Animal encounters galore - Would definitely recommend this tour. A shuttle picked us up at our hotel followed by 3 other parties. We were dropped off at the meeting place where we broke up into 2 groups (one group of 5 and one of 6). Our guide, Alex, brought us into the national park and broke down a couple guidelines to follow. Before we even got into the park we saw a frog and bird. Once we got in is where the fun began. Although there were quite a few tour groups ahead and behind us, it wasn’t too crowded. We were fortunate to see sloths, monkeys, a snake, crabs, butterflies, a walking stick, and several birds. Before the beach, we stopped for our snack which included a fruit bowl and delicious juice. We had about 30 minutes to spend at the beach before heading back up. The best part of our tour was at the end because we were lucky enough to see a group of monkeys very up close. We were then shuttled back to our respective hotels. Very happy with our guide, Alex, and driver. So kind and informative. It gets very humid once you get in and definitely apply bug spray and sun screen prior.

We were lucky to have... - We were lucky to have Viviana as our guide. She was absolutely wonderful and so knowledgeable. With Viviana we were able to see 2 and 3 toed sloths, capuchin, howler, and squirrel monkeys, various species of birds, crabs, iguanas, and a small boa constrictor. The beach was beautiful and we had an amazing experience!

Excellent Guide, Many Fauna, An Exquisite Beach - Too wonderful, all I wanted was to see a sloth, I had already tried in my tour of other parks in beautiful Costa Rica but only here I got it, thanks to our excellent and seasoned guide Viviana, she stands out for her cordiality and sensitivity, as well as being very fun, knowledgeable of fauna and respectful by the whole group when doing the tour in Spanish and not so much in English.

Not enough time to enjoy the beach - The walking part ends in the park at 2.5 hours mark. If you want to stay longer to enjoy the beach, you gotta find the way back on your own. I think this animal watching part could be run faster and leave more time for swimming at the beach. It takes 2 hours to walk the distance that would've taken 25 mins and give you another 30 mins at the cafeteria with a bowl of fruit, which is too long. By the end there's only 30 mins left at the beach, which is not enough time, given you also need time to change and all. I feel as if they try to leave as little time for the beach so people need to stay longer and leave the tour on their own, which at that point you need to find your way back on the hotel.
