Family day in the sun - I want to caveat this review straight away - we visited on a pretty quiet day. We came in on a Disney cruise and I checked before booking and only 1 other cruise ship was in port on the day we visited and that ship was a more adult oriented cruise line. Because of that I was fairly confident Playa Mia would not be overly full and I turned out to be correct. After doing some research before going there are other offerings that are better for pure adult visitors and Playa Mia strikes a good middle ground for everyone. We picked this beach park because it was the only one that didn't nickel-and-dime you on every little add-on: for example the obstacle course/water park is included with the all-inclusive package we bought. As I mentioned, we did get the all-inclusive package including travel. Some of the other guests were not on all-inclusive visit and most opted for their own travel. Having already been once, next time I may handle travel myself as I am an experienced traveler and the taxi's were very friendly, however with a young one in tow I must say the friendliness and helpfulness of the people who met us and arranged our travel in both directions was amazing and I absolutely do not regret paying a little extra for the included travel. Ultimately they did just put us in a taxi that they paid for but they met us super close to the boat exit and walked us all the way to the taxi stand and dealt with telling him where to go, etc. That was nice while we dealt with our hyped up kids in a new environment. I can't speak to the non all-inclusive experience but if you don't plan to drink a lot (including water/soft drinks for the kids) I think it can be a bargain. However, with the full package we bought, the only thing I ended up paying for was a deposit on the towels that we ultimately got back. I did tip our server (Alberto was awesome) decently well because of how much work he did during the almost full day we were there - so tipping is an additional expense that happens in any kind of place like this. One note, I did go for the top level all-inclusive package and with that the adults got a Tequila tasting and the kids got a chocolate tasting. Obviously the intent of these is to sell some goods but don't skip out on these if you get them - both tastings were delicious and even though we never buy anything at these things, in retrospect we still wish we had picked up some coffee Tequila. Because the day we visited wasn't super crowded, we had such a great time. The facilities are on the older side and the landscaping isn't perfectly manicured but it's on a beautiful beach and there was at least a little something for everyone: from 5 years old to 40. If it were considerably busier, that might pose an issue but they have a lot of room for people to spread out so except for the buffet being busy, I think it would take a lot of people for it to ruin your day.

Fun Day in the Sun - It was very nice. We purchased from their website. We selected transportation to be included. Going directly through them was cheaper that through our cruise ship. Nice beach. Pools were pretty good. The slides need a little upkeep. Overall was worth the money. We purchased the cabana (but they make you give a deposit - which of course we forgot to pick up before we left - so I think they plan on people forgetting.) But still worth it. The ocean was beautiful and you could snorkel. Also they had an ocean water obstacle course which was my kids favorites. The food is super pricy - so either opt for the all inclusive food, or bring lots of water for yourself. Highly recommend sunscreen - must reapply often! Overall was worth the cost for our family.

Must stop on Cozumel with kids - This is a must if you're in Cozumel with kids. This was our 3rd time going, via Cruise ships. We occasionally pick itineraries with Cozumel for my kids to come here. My daughter is 12 and son is 10. They love the inflatables out in the water. When they were a little younger, they loved the little kids area and water slide. There is a buffet with plenty of food for everyone. Salad bar, fajitas, hot dogs, pasta, French fries, rice, beans, mashed potatoes and fruit. Open bar for beer and mixed drinks. We originally booked directly through Playa Mia. But, there was the possibility of a storm coming and Playa Mia won't refund you for weather. We canceled and booked through Viator for a slightly higher price($30 for a family of 4), because it said you're protected against bad weather. So it was worth it to have that protection if we woke up and it was pouring rain. This particular time, the morning was awesome. Got there about 930am and the sun was shining bright for about 3 hours. We saw the clouds rolling in and decided to head back to the ship at 1. Just as we got on the shuttle back, it started pouring rain. We were fortunate enough to time it right. Even for 3/3.5 hours, it was worth it. Kids love it.

Playa Mia - The snorkeling was good with the underwater mayan structures. But the beach lounge chairs are horrible!!!!! No curvature on the frames makes it very uncomfortable!

Lovely family beach experience - Lovely beach experience, fun floats to climb all over, good food and plenty of it, lounge chairs, and we paid for the use of towels, umbrellas and snorkeling equipment. We also bought the transportation. Plenty to do for the grandparents, kids and granddaughter. The only (frustrating) hitch was that we could never get a confirmation from Viator or Playa Mia that our full package (including towels, umbrellas, and snorkeling equipment) was confirmed. Our email confirmations kept saying that only the basic package was included. I called Viator and Playa Mia, and no one knew. Very frustrating! When we got there we learned that all of it was included.

Not the same experience I had last year!! - So, this was my third time to visit Play Mia while in Cozumel through a Cruise Port Excursion. First time was about ten years ago, second time last year, then last week. Last year was completely different than this year. Last year we were guided into the resort. Immediately assisted getting our chairs setup with an umbrellas and free drinks non stop. And the resort and beach was not over crowded either. Last week, we did not get an umbrella and there is not any trees around any of the chairs. So we were in the sun most of the excursion. luckily for us there was some mixed clouds that day. They need to plant palm trees around the chairs. They have added many more chairs, but the beach is the same size. Its not very wide, so the water was packed full of folks. The water was not clear, and dirty. Also, if you are looking for a more adult resort, this is not the one. There were kids running everywhere, which is mainly due to over booking the place. The place overall is clean and the bathrooms are well kept. The buffet is chicken and steak fajitas over chips, which was actually pretty good. Just dont expect any nacho cheese to put on top of it. This was probably our last trip to Play Mia.

Poor experience - Disappointed overall! - Extremely dirty!!! Pool was filthy with trash in it, kids water area had mold, chilled paint, and statues / slides in the kids splash area were very unstable and unsafe. We rented a bed and upon arrival the bed was ripped and dirty with food left over from previous users. When asked for a different bed our request was denied. We were also denied towels and advised that we should have brought our own. When we asked for service / drinks we were told someone would come by soon. We waited for about 15 minutes before anyone came. The facilities are not maintained at all. The customer service from the Marina hut on the beach was poor and although we had to wait for a refund it was provided after 9 days.
