Beautiful and Relaxing Bay View - Took the kids on this excursion. We had a blast. One of the good things was we were first to the location. It was like having the whole place to ourselves. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. Food was delicious and drinks were on point.

Great Tour Operator - Due to weather we did not make the Kayak trip we planned. But last minute Substitution was very good and fun. Our Guide, Elliot was friendly, funny, and spoke great English. Highly recommend the Native Choice operator.

Great kayak tour - poor logistics - There are 2 parts to this review - logistics and the experience once we got to the lagoon which I would rate very differently. First, we were told to meet at the Native Tours kiosk one hour after our ships arrival. We had a little trouble getting out of the port area in Costa Maya but arrived less than an hour after our ships gangway was down and (along with another group) were told that we were late and our tour had already departed. They were very rude as well. They told us we would have to ride out of the way to drop off a group at the ruins then they’d take us on to Bacalar. We were on the bus about an hour and a half to get there. Finally once we were there we had a fantastic time. They hooked us up with drinks and a wonderful fajita lunch then our kayak guide took us out on the lake. This was our first time and we didn’t realize the lagoon is actually a 40 mile lake! Some of the insta pics we had seen made it appear you can kayak around it but it is much bigger so we kayaked to one area then to the middle and back. Our guide was so knowledgeable and told us a lot about the history of bacalar as well as the science and culture. Once back at the beach area we had a couple more drinks and lounged in chairs and ok the deck. It is super pretty and mostly fresh water - however next time I’d prefer to go by boat and see more of the lake or do the river tour that feeds into the lake. So main advice - be early getting off the ship and get straight to the kiosk. The tour was excellent but wish we had a better experience with logistics.

Beautiful location, farther away than we thought - This was such a beautiful location and we enjoyed the change of pace from the beach. Our fajita lunch was so delicious! Our driver was wonderful and kind, told us lots of stories and helped us stop on the roadside to buy pineapple and mango. One drawback was that it was a lot farther of a drive than we originally thought. It was easily an hour and 20 minutes both ways, which was more time than we wanted to spend in a van with our 6 kids.

Finding the travel booth... - Finding the travel booth was very easy. Our driver was very nice. However, the location is not the same that you see on the pictures. I have been in Bacalar and I was hoping to have the same experience, but the location we went to it wasn’t it. The water was not clear like the other location I been to before. We still had a good time and the tacos were so good.

Not as advertised - Unfortunately, once we arrived at the destination, it was not as advertised and kayaking was canceled due to rough seas so we went back to the ship. The pictures showed pretty resort like area, the place they took us to was broken down and looked like it was abandoned.. so our group requested to go back to the ship(1hr away) and not hang around the area in which they brought us to that was unacceptable. They agreed and did bring us back to port. We all requested a refund.

This excursion was nice... - This excursion was nice but they did not take us to the pictured lagoon. They said it was changed due to conditions of the lagoon pictured. The lunch was good and the kayaking was fun, it just wasn’t in as gorgeous of a place as was expected and pictured.

Excursion that wasn’t! - The excursion is s hit or miss due to “ weather “ it was bright enough and sunny but it was cancelled after we walked to the pick up point. They tried to up sell a different option for the same price. The are good about refunding and it happened in 10 minutes. Would have loved to kayak but it never happened. It turned out to be a wasted day and a let down when we were really looking forward to seeing the sights!
