CUSCO – UPIS – PUCA COCHA LAKE

Nevado Auzangate - The journey begins with a hotel pickup at 5:00 AM for an incredible expedition. Private transportation will take you to the trailhead at Upis, where you’ll meet your horsemen and horses. Enjoy a delightful breakfast prepared by our trekking chef. As you hike close to the Ausangate glacier peaks, you’ll be treated to breathtaking views. The scenery includes stunning lakes, waterfalls, and possibly sightings of llamas, alpacas, wild vicuñas (the wild ancestors of alpacas), and condors soaring above. A 3-hour uphill trek leads to the first pass at 5000m/16404 ft, offering magnificent views of the area. You’ll reach the campsite at Puca Ccocha (Red Lake) by 5:00 pm. This picturesque campsite is nestled at the base of the Ausangate peak and by the lake’s edge, providing spectacular sunset views and the chance to see condors and eagles nearby.

APACHETA PASS – ANANTA - WARMISAYA PASS - QUEULLACOCHA LAGUNE

Nevado Auzangate - After an early breakfast, embark on a 2-hour steep climb to Apacheta Pass at 5100 m/16732 ft elevation. Throughout the journey, enjoy stunning views of blue lakes and the majestic Ausangate Glacier Peak. At the summit, you’ll be directly in front of Ausangate, with the Chilca Valley and its grazing alpacas in view. After capturing some memorable photos, continue for another hour to Ananta for lunch. Following lunch and a short rest, proceed to the second pass of the day, Warmisaya Pass at 5100m/16730 ft elevation. A 1½ hour leisurely hike leads to the summit of this highest pass of the trek. Then, a 1-hour downhill walk brings you to the campsite at the banks of Queullacocha Lake, an ideal spot for observing the famous Inka constellations and stargazing at night.

EXPLORING THE RAINBOW MOUNTAINS - RETURN TO CUSCO

Vinicunca Rainbow Mountain - After a final early breakfast with your trekking team and enjoying hot drinks, embark on a 45-minute gradual uphill trek to the renowned Rainbow Mountain and the Red Mountain Valley at 5200 m/17060 ft elevation. Your guide will explain the uniqueness of these mountains, which stand out from others in the Vilcanota Range. This is a must-see tourist attraction in South America and one of Peru’s most stunning natural wonders. After taking photos, descend to the Red Valley viewpoint, then walk for an hour to the bus station in Chilliwani, where transportation will be ready to take you back to Cusco, arriving at your hotel around 2:00 pm.
