As soon as I set foot in the Ron Barceló rum factory, I was greeted by the warm and inviting aroma of sugar cane and the promise of a day filled with discovery. The factory, nestled in the heart of Quisqueya, is a testament to the rich history and craftsmanship that goes into creating the world’s best rum. Our guide for the day, Hendrix, was a fountain of knowledge and enthusiasm, making us feel right at home from the get-go.

The tour began with an introduction to the history of sugar cane in the Dominican Republic, a story that is as rich and complex as the rum itself. Hendrix expertly guided us through the distilling process, explaining each step with a level of detail that was both informative and engaging. It was fascinating to see the transformation of raw sugar cane into the smooth, golden liquid that has won accolades worldwide.

One of the highlights of the tour was undoubtedly the rum tasting. We were treated to samples of the three best rums produced by Ron Barceló, each with its own unique flavor profile. It was a treasure trove of delights, with a selection of cigars and Dominican cigars from the Aurora brand also available. As a lover of all things Caribbean, I couldn’t resist picking up a few bottles to take home and share with friends.

Overall, the Ron Barceló Anejo Experience was a day well spent. The combination of history, craftsmanship, and exceptional hospitality made it a truly memorable adventure.
