Mindo - Day 1

Mindo - Day 1
Pululahua Geobotanical Reserve - We will depart in the morning, passing through the middle of the world and pausing briefly for photos at Pululahua Crater.
Next, we will descend into the cloud forest, stopping at the Alambi bird reserve to observe various hummingbird species such as the Andean Emerald, Purple-bibbed Whitetip, Empress Brilliant, White Necked Jacobin, Sparkling Violet-Ear, Brown Violet-Ear, Green Violet-Ear, Booted Racket-tail, Rufous Tailed, White-whiskered Hermit, Tawny Bellied Hermit, Western Emerald (E), Purple Throated Woodstar, along with different species of tanagers, woodpeckers, thrushes, and more.
Mindo - We will arrive in Mindo, situated at 1400 meters above sea level. In this valley, we have several options: a 40-minute walk to the “Nambillo” waterfall, visiting a butterfly garden, exploring an orchid farm, embarking on a canopy adventure (1 hour), tubing on the river, or taking a chocolate tour (1 hour).
We will have lunch at a local restaurant and rest at a local touristic hostel.
Optionally, at night, we can visit Mindo Lago to enjoy the sounds of various frog species.
Mindo - Day 2
Paz de las Aves Bird Refuge - (Optional 1) We will depart at 5 am from the hostel, heading northwest of Pichincha to the “Paz de las Aves” refuge, located at approximately 2000 meters above sea level (6500 feet). Here, we will observe unique species such as the Andean Cock of the Rock, Giant Antpitta, Yellow Bellied Antpitta, Ochred Breasted Antpitta, Crimson Rumped Toucanet, Toucan Barbet, Golden-Headed Quetzal, Masked Trogon, Blue Winged Mountain-Tanager, Orange Napped-Tanager, Black-Chinned Mountain-Tanager, and various hummingbird species.
IMPORTANT: The cost for visiting ALL the BIRD SANCTUARIES mentioned in this tour is $50 per person.
ANOTHER OPTION is to visit the LEK of the Cock-of-the-Rock for $15 per person OR
WE CAN ALSO visit the “Balcón Tumpiky” for $15 per person, where we will see bird species such as the plate-billed mountain toucan, toucan barbet, crimson-rumped toucanet, and various tanagers.
San Tadeo Birding - (Optional 2) We will depart at 9 am from the hostel to visit the “San Tadeo” bird reserve, where we will observe different bird species such as the Lemon Rumped Tanager, Golden Tanager, Black-capped Tanager, Blue Gray Tanager, White Lined Tanager, Thick-billed Euphonia, Orange Bellied Euphonia, Buff Throated Saltator, Ecuadorian Thrush, Slate Throated White star, Red Headed Barbet, and more.

Later, we will drive for about an hour to reach The Love’s Waterfall, a beautiful spot for swimming, relaxing, and connecting with nature at 240 meters above sea level (800 feet).
