• Quito Old Town - In the morning, the guide will pick up guests from their hotel to explore the “Light of America,” renowned globally for having the largest and best-preserved historic center in Latin America. The tour begins with a visit to Quito’s most traditional market, where visitors can see flowers, fruits, typical foods, and experience the daily life of locals shopping there. The tour continues to the Basilica of the National Vow, a significant neo-Gothic architectural masterpiece in the country, where visitors can climb its towers, observe its gargoyles, and explore its unfinished interiors, as legend suggests.
• Quito Old Town - The tour proceeds to Plaza Grande or Plaza de la Independencia, home to the Government Palace or Carondelet Palace, the Municipal Building, and the City Cathedral. A short walk leads to La Compañía de Jesús Church, a baroque architectural gem and a stunning example of Quito’s colonial art. The tour continues to the Church of San Francisco, where visitors will learn about the fascinating myths and legends from its construction. In this square, there is an opportunity to taste some of the finest chocolates made with Ecuadorian aroma cocoa. After this delightful stop, the tour continues to Morales Street, also known as Ronda, a vibrant area with colorful houses preserved since colonial and republican times. Here, the guide will provide recommendations and allow time for lunch (not included).
• El Panecillo - The tour continues to the Panecillo viewpoint, located atop the hill of the same name at 3,035 meters above sea level, formerly known as “shungoloma” or heart hill. Here stands a large-scale aluminum replica (45 meters) of the Virgin of Quito, sculpted by Quito artist Bernardo de Legarda, with the original displayed on the main altar of the Church of San Francisco.
• Pululahua Volcano & Geobotanical Reserve - The tour heads north of the city to the Pululahua volcano viewpoint, offering a view of one of the few inhabited craters in the world.
• Middle of the World City - The tour then moves to the Middle of the World City Complex (admission not included), where the guide will show replicas of ancestral houses of Ecuador’s inhabitants. The guide will also demonstrate interactive games showcasing physical phenomena unique to the middle of the world. Visitors can observe the monument honoring the French scientific expedition that pinpointed the equator line’s exact geographic location, and take a unique photograph in both hemispheres. The guide will lead a visit inside the monument to the ethnographic museum to learn about Ecuadorian indigenous cultures and nationalities. The tour pass provides unlimited access to all attractions in the Complex, allowing guests to organize the most interesting tour with their guide. Finally, the guide will return guests to their hotel.
