Since its inauguration in 2005, the cable car has become a prominent attraction in Quito. It provides a fantastic opportunity to enjoy a panoramic view of the Pichincha Volcano and the surrounding landscape of Quito. The journey begins at 2,950 meters above sea level and ascends to 4,050 meters, reaching the crest of Cruz Loma, adjacent to the Pichincha Volcano.
The cable car features 18 cars that ascend the mountain range in a 10-minute journey. Upon reaching 4,050 meters, visitors are welcomed by a breathtaking scenic view. The páramo of the Pichincha Volcano, located at the top of Cruz Loma, offers a stunning vista of the entire city of Quito. On clear days, visitors can also see significant peaks of the Andes mountain range, including Cayambe, Antisana, Cotopaxi, Pasochoa, and Rumiñahui. In addition to the magnificent views, the Andean landscape presents a cold wilderness with a nearly straight, flat path leading to the summit of Rucu Pichincha, the most visible elevation of Pichincha from Quito.
