Khe Sanh Combat Base - Although Khe Sanh Combat Base was never captured, it witnessed the war’s most brutal battle. Approximately 500 American soldiers, 10,000 North Vietnamese troops, and countless civilians lost their lives around this isolated highland base. Now, it is hauntingly serene, but in 1968, the hillsides shook under the force of 1000kg bombs, white phosphorus shells, napalm, mortars, and relentless artillery as American forces fought desperately against the NVA.
